Negro Leagues Baseball
Before Jackie Robinson, blacks were not allowed to play in the Major Leagues, so from the 1920s through the 1950s, they played in separate, unequal leagues which produced exciting baseball and colorful stars such as Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson.

Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the NABA offers competitive and recreational baseball for men and women in over 125 leagues in 40+ states. Currently, the NABA has over 25,000 player-members playing America's pastime on weekends and in twilight leagues." "SABR is a non-profit organization whose objectives include fostering the study of baseball as a significant American social and athletic institution, establishing an accurate historical account of baseball through the years, and coordinating and facilitating the dissemination of baseball research information." Their Website includes information about SABR and its activities and research, as well as its publications and regional and national events. SABR's services include a research service using The Baseball Index, a index of baseball-related articles and books.
