These search engines specifically search for audio/video files on the web, but be sure to check out the other listed search engines and metasearch engines. They often provide specialized searches for media.

This search engine lets you "search the Web for sound effects and musical instrument samples"

AOL maintains this video search engine that has a filter for adult content, although concerned users should check out the "Adult FAQ" page. Categorizes by genre, source, tags, popularity, and date and allows users to create their own AOL profile, which provides additional features.
