Image Search Engines

These search engines specialize in finding images. Always find out if an image has a copyright before using it, ask permission from the creator and/or owner before using an image if they do or if you are not sure, and properly cite copyrighted image in papers and presentations (see our Reference >> Style and Writing Guides section).

Ditto

Ditto specializes in finding images on the web and in using images to display search results for regular web queries. Proprietary filtering technology and "a human element" are used to filter out adult sites, although no process can be 100% effective. The site does have an e-mail for requesting offensive sites to be removed.
Picsearch

Great image search engine that touts "family friendliness" thanks to its filters that screen out offensive material, although it does not claim to be full proof. It does however provide an e-mail address to request images be removed.
