A searchable database of summaries about hazardous substances and the most frequently asked questions about the effects of these substances put together by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. These summaries include basic lay-person information about specific chemicals such as pronunciation and where they can be found in the environment, a picture of the chemical (molecular), general properties and scientific names, information about exposure to the chemical and its consequences, health information, and environmental hazards associated with the chemical. References as well as additional information telephone numbers are also provided.

The website, sponsored by the CDC, provides information and educational resources about lead poisoning. It includes literature, explanation of symptoms, screening information, and research and outreach news.
Federal Emergency Management Agency

FEMA is an independent agency of the federal government designed to be a "comprehensive, risk-based, emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery." This site has information on disaster assistance, current weather storms updates, news, flood insurance informaiton (aimed at both the public, local and state governents, and lenders) , as well as career opportunities, a kids section and updates on FEMA projects.

The National Center for Victims of Crime
