Online in one form or another since 1994, The Blue Moon Review (originally called The Blue Penny Quarterly) provides access to fresh new fiction, poetry, and nonfiction in a predominantly traditional format. The site also features unique interactive media that allows you to explore collections of Blue Moon content in "hypermedia" format. The content is from major voices in modern American literature and spans a wide range of topics and interest.

L.A. Youth :: http://www.layouth.com/
This zine is published by a non-profit with more than 70 teen staff members and includes articles on issues like school, internships, jobs, community, family, friends, sexuality, and arts and entertainment. Bi-monthly issues include feature stories and photo essays. There is also a searchable "Teen Services" section focused on The Southern California area that provides contact information for arts centers, health and human services, job and volunteer opportunities, and recreation facilities.

This "Writing Community for Queer and Questioning Youth" allows you to read the journals of teens as well as to post your own. The site also features poetry by teens, a forum where you can discuss your ideas, and "back issues" of past features.

This is the online presence of the print magazine Teen Voices, which is all "about girls being themselves and realizing their potential." It contains articles from the magazine -- all written by teens -- on topics as varied as culture, sexual abuse, being a twin, and being yourself.

The folks who publish Teen Magazine have this online zine site. Includes articles on style, guys, advice, real life and beauty & fitness. Very graphics-intensive and slow to load, so modem users beware.

Humorous creative writing, ranging from laugh-out-loud to mildly unnerving, submitted by readers, with different content than the quarterly print version. "Gallaudet University through its division of Pre-College National Mission Programs has published World Around You, a magazine for deaf and hard of hearing teenagers for 15 years. We have hero/adventure stories about deaf teens and adults as well as information about careers, role models, technology, laws, and deaf culture." This web version has articles from the print magazine and information about subscribing.

This zine of poetry, prose, plays, and articles was started in 1997 by a teen girl who wanted to see what other teens were writing. Still going strong, Xenith has all of its issues archived on the site, and is constantly adding new content. See what teens and college students are writing, submit your own work, hang out on the message boards to meet writers from all over the world, and follow links to other cool writing sites. "No topic or style of writing is off-limits," writes the editor. "We publish, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, plays, essays, rants, experimental writing, and everything in between."

What is the IPL?

The Internet Public Library is a public library for the world wide web.
