As a recent graduate from Human and Social Sciences of Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology, I am elated to apply for admission to the graduate program for the Master of Arts in psychology. I am a dedicated psychology graduate with experience working in a clinical setting and addressing behavioral and emotional needs of youth in a residential and school based setting. Through my work as a student at this prestigious university, I plan on gaining the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful clinical psychologist to serve the inner city demographic and help adolescents reach their highest potential in life skills and wellness goals. This position enabled me to receive first hand experience to develop rapport to create a safe and trusting environment for care while providing behavioral and emotional support. After completion of my degree this past spring, I continued to build my experience, becoming a residential counselor and instructor assistant at the Justice Resource Institute. Through my work with Justice Resource Institute, I support youth and families by strengthening relationships, improving self-regulation, and building competencies, within a trauma-informed environment that is fun, educational, and supportive. As one who is working one to one with these juveniles daily, I address behavioral and emotional needs of residents through activities, socialization and interpersonal and social skills while enforcing policies and safety standards. I am a member of a team including counselors, instructors, clinicians, and administration. My long term experience has helped influence my passion of helping troubled youth and inspire me to pursue my masters degree as the next step in my goal of becoming a licensed clinical
