The novel ‘Hating Alison Ashley’ was written by Australian author Robin Klein. The novel was first published by Penguin books Australia in 1984. In 2005, 21 years after the novel was published, the film – Hating Alison Ashley was produced and became a well-known comedy. The film was produced by Elizabeth Howatt-Jackman and directed by Geoff Bennett. This comparative essay will analyse the 3 elements in both the novel and film: the characters, plot and setting.
