Abernathy was a dog. He was not any dog however, he was a purebred bloodhound. He came from one of the finest pedigrees in all of Kentucky. He had the shiniest coat of all his brothers and sisters. He had the loudest call and droopiest face. He was, for all intents and purposes, perfect. So much so that he began to become swelled with pride. He looked down upon the other dogs. He scoffed at their mangy coats and their flea ridden fleeces. He laughed at their pointed noses and their wimpy barks. He developed quite the inferiority complex. As Abernathy grew so did his perceived self perfection. One summer's day Abernathy was bought by a farmer from a few counties over. After a long ride Abernathy arrived at his new home, Flanders Farm. He was greeted warmly by farmer Flanders. Upon his arrival Abernathy was given a new collar, a soft bed, and a pat on the head. …show more content…
There were black labs, and blue merles, beagles, and terriers of all sorts. Abernathy was amazed until he saw a familiar face, Fred. Slowly walking around tail drooping and tongue hanging out of his mouth. He truly was a disgrace. Abernathy knew he would beat every dog there, but he relished the fact that he was going to get beat his ridiculously slow neighbor. All of a sudden everyone was lining up, it looked as though the competition was going to begin. The dogs were lined up and a judge called out the rules. Then suddenly there was a loud bang and dogs took off in every direction. Left and right, this way and that way. Into the forest and through the fields. The competition had begun and Fred was excited. As the night progressed Abernathy's luck wasn’t so apparent. It turns out he wasn’t as perfect at racoon hunting as he thought. By the end of the night Abernathy had only caught 7 racoons. Not the best haul he thought to himself, but that was of no matter. He figured if he did that well that surely everyone else did worse. After all he was
It must feel horrible to be an outcast, especially when you do not understand that you are one. In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Candy’s dog is an outcast to the men in the bunk house. The dog has multiple conditions which make it unwanted and unaccepted. Though Candy’s dog is not human it is still considered an outcast because it is old, smelly and suffering.
He trained them for weeks before he ever even set out the first night to go hunting. At sunset, Billy set out with Old Dan and Little Ann, Billy promised to his dogs that the first coon they treed he would chop it down. Eventually Billy’s dogs treed there first coon in one of the “biggest” trees in the Ozarks. He started to chip away, the tree with his axe by the morning his hands were bleeding and he had blisters all over his hands. He knew that he couldn’t let his dogs down he had promised them that he would cut down the tree that the dogs treed there first coon in.
Aerith was born on the planet of Greozoumia, on the summit of Mt. Epidia of the Aerian nation of Whiterock. She's descended from a long lineage of priestesses and monks. All whom have devoted their ways of life to the Temples of the Gods. Her mother, Chaldera Silvermist, was a high priestess (a high priestess' duty is to protect the relics of the Temples of the Gods and instruct aspiring priestesses in the way of the gods) and the fairy of nature channeling (her abilities were able to manipulate mystical, arcane energy). Her second mother, Fopella, is the Goddess of Air (she changed her gender to male to have an offspring with Chaldera) and suffered gravely.
Some people think that the dog was better off dead, “'Why’n’t you get Candy to shoot his old dog and give him one of the pups to raise up? I can smell that dog a mile away. Got no teeth, damn near blind, can’t eat'" (Steinbeck 18). Readers often refer to this quote to assume that the dog was suffering and should be killed off for its own good. Many people perceived the situation differently because it is a dog not a child, not a woman, not a man.
Abraham was the father of many nations. Ismael was Abraham's first born which he had with Agar, a slave. Isaac was the second son of Abraham, which he had with his wife Sarah. Eventually, Isaac had Jacob and Esau which both wanted the heritage. Jacob gained his father's blessing and had twelve sons and a daughter.
Atticus’ preference for the old ways and desire for all dogs to conform to the old canine way of life creates tension between the pack’s two distinct ways of life. The pack must decide between the new ways of human consciousness and language and the old dog ways of
I picked to write about Alvin Ailey because I feel like this is the decade and generation that his legacy died in because when it comes to dance no one thinks of Ailey as the founding father his dancing is a lost art.. Alvin Ailey was an amazing dancer and choreographer with his own unique dance style. His talent was referenced in Fresh Prince of Bel Air and a different world his style is what makes him stand out from other choreographers. Alvin Ailey was not born with his name in lights he had a rough beginning. Born in Rogers, Texas on January 5th 1931 as Alvin Ailey Jr.
This shows the men who teased them when he stopped for food, were really just other patients at the hospital. While Adam was on his bike trip he ran into a dog he was scared of. Sliver is a German shepherd and he is ferocious. He chases me whenever I ride my bike.¨ (226) This explains that really the dog he ran into was just Silver.
To begin with, Boon had high expectations of the fierce dog named Lion, for when asked about him, he stated how “he’s

He warned her of the beastly bears, loathsome lions, and even the foul fox. They both needed one another and the dog knew that. Unfortunately, one night a sly wolf had eaten Elizabeth’s beloved hound. Elizabeth slept peacefully through the hours of the night not awoken by the sound of her precious dog’s death.
It wasn’t until after that the townsmen said that the dog was innocent and shouldn’t have been killed. These people always just assumed that the animals were possessed. “Mather reasoned that if the dog really was the devil in disguise, it would not be possible to kill it. Since the dog did die, Mather determined it was not bewitched and was therefore innocent,”(Brooks) . In that same month, another girl accused a dog of being a demon in disguise.
His coat was the best thing about him." (page 45) I bet that after Mrs. Salamano died Mr. Salamano and his dog both began to get
Once the dog was closely observed by the peasants of the town, they believe the dog to be half baron half lion. After the dog passed away, the peasants came to believe that Levi also had two sides, which were the same as his dog, half baron and half lion. Levi explains, “To the peasants everything has a double meaning. The cow-woman, the werewolf, the lion-baron, and the goat-devil are only notorious and striking examples” (Levi,
