William Lloyd Garrison was a tremendous advocate for the abolishment of slavery. One of William Lloyd Garrison’s major beliefs was that the U.S. Constitution was the result of a terrible bargain between freedom and slavery. He called the Constitution a “covenant with death” and “agreement with hell.” He was really passionate about being anti slavery, so passionate that he did not participate in American electoral politics because to do so meant that you supported slavery.
