Theodore Roosevelt Theodore Roosevelt has had many achievements and has helped the world in so many ways. Roosevelt was very persistent in every job he had, as well as his many roles in the government. He served on a police board and he was a strong supporter of the war in Spain. He had joined a group called the Rough Riders. Roosevelt mediated the Russian and Japanese war, as a result for that he won the Nobel peace prize. He pursued a good policy of enforcing all of the anti-trust laws. He was a very persistent speech maker such as, when he was shot at point blank range by a fanatic, he got back up and finish his speech. Later he died from a blood clot. He gave us better working conditions, a more sanitary way to process the meat being sent out through America and helped keep a lot of our national parks and beauty of nature for generations to come. Although the Progressive movement was highly influenced American politics, it was only effective during the terms of certain presidents and over certain people. Presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin Roosevelt were all presidents that used the Progressive movement to influence American politics. They all believed that moral reform, an expansion of democracy, and regulation of the economy was the goal for America. Throughout all of their terms, each president changed and added to American society and politics based off of the Progressive view. The reasoning for Roosevelt’s recognition is as follows: “Facing the enemy's heavy fire, he displayed extraordinary bravery throughout the charge, and was the first to reach the enemy trenches, where he quickly killed one of the enemy with his pistol, allowing his men to continue the assault. By the nickname of FDR everyone knew him as the best democrat in US history as well as the youngest president to serve. Roosevelt was a democrat who battled more than a republican at the time, FDR out did people by sticking to his word after the election. Prior to losing the election of 1912, he helped the U.S with by doing anything he could to uphold America and its citizens. He also aided in American access to the Panama Canal. On economical terms, Roosevelt was the trust-buster, breaking all of the bad trusts in big businesses. He also was the president who enforced the Sherman Antitrust Act. Socially, he preserved millions of acres of land, entitling citizens to interact and have leisure time, and wildlife to prosper.
Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. Theodore Roosevelt was such a great man that he got rewarded the Metal of Honor in 2001 for his actions in Cuba, but thats not as important as him curbed the monopolistic power of the railroads. One of President Roosevelt’s major goals was railroad regulation. The Elkins Act of 1903 and the Hepburn Act of 1906 were passed during his presidency to curb monopolistic power of the railroads.
