During this podcast the case was analyzed, new suspects were interrogated, and new evidence brought to light. This case has recently been granted a new trial due to reasonable doubt. At the end of the podcast, the narrator leaves the audience to come to a conclusion themselves. By analyzing the evidence it is evident that Adnan Syed did kill Hae. To begin, the call log found on Adnan’s phone criminalizes Adnan. The first call that is damming is made is from a pay phone at Best Buy. Jay, the key witness, claims he received this call around 3:45 pm. During this call, Adnan tells Jay that he has murdered Hae, and needs Jay to come pick him up. At first, it seemed like this phone booth didn’t exist because there is no evidence of one being outside. However, blueprints for the building revel that there was a phone booth inside of the store. This call from Adnan was a consistency in Jay’s story; in both his interviews and his …show more content…
A case specialist said, “Most killers can seem like ordinary people.” Adnan fits this mold as a regular teenage high schooler. He had friends, he was on a sports team, but he also had some illegal tendencies. Adnan would steal money from the Mosque on a regular basis, never stealing more than $40 to avoid getting caught. He also commonly smoked weed. On a different note, Adnan and Hae’s relationship had to be kept secret because their parents did not approve of them dating, which means the Adnan was under a lot of pressure to keep the relationship a secret. When Hae broke up with Adnan, Adnan would have felt betrayed and hurt that someone he gave up so much for didn’t want to be with him anymore. These feelings would have built up inside of Adnan occasionally slipping out in joking comments like, “I’m going to kill that *****”. Adnan probably didn’t plan to murder Hae, he most likely snapped and killed Hae in the heat of the moment says another case specialist. Sometimes, when a person snaps like that they suffer memory loss of the event and cannot remember what they did. Because of the circumstances in which the murder was committed, Adnan would be a perfect candidate for the
Maria Del Carmen Garcia AP Seminar 31 August 2017 Innocent Until Proven Guilty The homicide of Hae Min Lee is intriguing considering how many facts don't add up and the many holes there was and still is in the entire investigation. In the beginning no one knows who did what and who was where? It is hard to recall a day that happened months ago.
This makes the audience think Adnan is evil and could have killed Hae. Another reason Adnan can be the killer is he because he is an EMT. Adnan is smart and quick, and can know how to strangle someone and bring them back to life if he wanted to. An EMT has lots of practice and skill with life and death situations. When Adnan was being interviewed, he first told the cops that he was driving his own car, but during a different time he said he was getting a ride from someone.
Introduction: I am going to discuss with you why I believe the case against Adnan Syed for the murder and kidnapping of Hae Min Lee should be reopened within the court. I have reasoning behind Asia McClain and her proposed alibi for Adnan and with a DNA test found linking a former serial killer/rapist, Ronald Lee Moore. I will be discussing the credibility behind Asia's letters and affidavits and how Adnan is innocent and should have a fair trial. I will also discuss why I believe Jay's statements on the day do not all match up as he tells different stories.
According to the state’s timeline, at 2:36 pm on Wednesday, January 13, Syed had already strangled Lee in a Best Buy parking lot. However, both Syed and Lee had alibis. In fact, it’s impossible for either of them to have been there.
While in this deep state of sorrow came an urge for vengeance that would drive him to kill. She was an innocent high school girl who was going to graduate soon at Woodlawn high school but had her future taken away from her. We should not let this act of crime escape our grasp as Hae must get justice for Adnan’s wrongdoings. This nightmare of an act started on January 13, 1999, when a Korean girl named Hae Min Lee disappeared.
To begin with one of the most crucial pieces of evidence in this whole case is Adnan's alibi someone who places him in a different location then the murder spot of Hae Min Lee. The problem
Although Stephanie McPherson and Jay Wilds had different motives for killing Hae Min Lee, they succeed to falsely incriminate Adnan Syed in spite of all the evidence that clears the defendant of this crime. Adnan’s best friend Stephanie McPherson and her boyfriend Jay Wilds both have as much of a motive to murder Hae Min Lee as Adnan Syed does.
In Sarah Koenig’s view, “Was he so hurt that he decided to kill her?” This is talked about a lot asking how hurt Adnan would have been to kill Hae. Young couples often go through breakups, but this one lead to the death of the girlfriend. Obviously Adnan felt hurt and so was his pride, but according to Adnan and their friends they loved each other. It does not make sense that he would hurt this girl that he loved.
Adnan didn’t seem obsessed with Hae or the fact that he lost her. Adnan didn’t seem to act suspicious or jealous in any way after he and Hae had split. He was interested in other girls and even had a few girlfriends after the breakup. Hae’s friends claim that Adnan acted normal and treated Hae as just a friend and didn’t act obsessive at all over his ex-girlfriend. “It is true that no one at the time described Adnan as
According to crime stoppers 9 out of 10 first time killers will not be able to get a good night sleep because they are restless, because the guilt of killing someone eats them alive. If Adnan really did kill Hae than why was he not restless and sound asleep, the guilt would have especially been bothered by killing someone because the whole community would have been against him and his family. The fact that Adnan never got to say his side of the story makes him innocent alone. How can you throw some one in jail without hearing what they had to say or their point of view on how things played out.
The court and others may argue that Adnan and Hae’s past relationship is enough for Adnan to be convicted. Adnan lived in a Muslim home were dating was forbidden, but he pushed all of that away to date Hae. Adnan and Hae dated for a while, and then they had a tragic breakup. Adnan was angry and had the motive to kill Hae after he sacrificed his whole life to be with Hae; this is what the court says about
This was quite the battle for Adnan Syed, a young oriental male who was accused of murdering his long-time girlfriend in January of 1999. Hae-Min Lee, Adnan’s girlfriend, went missing in January and her body was found buried in a local park 3 weeks later. Adnan Syed is innocent of killing Hae-Min Lee because of three reasons: Cristina Gutierrez, Adnan’s lawyer, failed to put him in a position to win the trial, Jay is not an effective witness, and the window of time does not match up. Adnan is not at fault
Detective Deirdre Enright says, “You don’t have enough to put Adnan away, not to me you don’t,” in episode seven of the Serial podcast. Sarah Koenig is the narrator of this podcast, and she delivers the evidence in an unbiased tone so that the audience can develop their own stance on the case, without being subconsciously swayed by her opinion. The case focuses on the trial of Adnan Syed, and debates whether or not he killed Hae Min Lee on January 13th, 1999. After weighing in all the facts, rumors, and theories, the only logical answer is that Adnan is, without a doubt, innocent of murdering Hae Lee. Pretty much the only thing the prosecution has to go off of is the cell phone records of that day.
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
