For famous faces and transformative youth alike, the Ted stage has created a powerful way to spread global messages. Taking the stage, 12-year-old Adora Svitak has ambitions to change the world.
Invention as stated as by Laurie L. Haleta is the speaker’s resources and ability to influence the audience (pg. 148). Using ethical and emotional proof, the young Ted Talk presenter was able to convey an important and lasting message to millions of adults. Not only was Adora well informed about her subject matter, Adora had plenty of evidence and logical reasoning in order to support her arguments.

As explained on page 148 of Public Speaking Strategic Choices by Laurie L. Haleta, delivery pertains to the skills featured throughout one’s speech. While Adora seemed confident and rehearsed, she allowed her performance anxiety to control her overall delivery. Over the duration of her presentation, Adora Svitak fell victim to repetitive gestures, distractive pacing, and nervous habits. In addition, Adora’s use of stapled full size papers hindered her overall message as the action added to a floppy and disorganized delivery. Along the side of her full size paper, Adora used visual aid. However, small flaws within the duration of the slide show reflected the presentation negatively. In order to effectively use a presentation within a speech setting, Adora Svitak needed to use the slides as constant enforcing agent for each main point of her outline. Nevertheless, Adora was an incredible speaker with a transformative impact on the audience. In October of 2014, Bill Nye, of “Science Guy” fame, spoke at Lewis & Clark College as part of the Speaker Series sponsored by Campus Activities Board (CAB), President Glassner, and Dean Gonzalez. The advertisement for the events announced that Nye would “talk about his early history, the importance of science education, and “[inspire] others to change the world through it.” Expectations were incredibly high; Nye did not live up to them. His talk lacked a clear purpose and was hard to follow at points. Still, many students left the event reasonably satisfied with the talk.
Ms. Ackerman is setting up love in this paragraph because the feeling of love, how love can change feelings of people in many different ways. The reading of Gangstas, wankstas, and Ridas have reinforced my desire of working with the poor communities. The Five Pillars of effective practice in the Ridas’ classroom have helped me to identify the strength of teaching and mentoring. As a mentor, I do plenty of preparation to assist my students as much as possible and prioritize their needs. I strongly agree with Pillar 2, which is serving the community. In Equiano's personal slave narrative, "The Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African", Equiano flips the idea that the African people are backwards and barbaric, thus ripe for slavery, by demonstrating his personal exceptionalism through his literacy to show that it is truly the white people who are backwards and barbaric through their own hypocrisy. This reversal that Equiano demonstrates in his slave narrative shows that the savagery of African people exists as a misconception and makes the reader fully grasp the need to abolish slavery and any inequality present. On page seventy-eight, Equiano uses first person pronouns like 'I', 'my', and 'me' to separate himself from the other African people and whites around him. This separation that Equiano creates demonstrates his exceptionalism as an African slave.
He does a great job of introducing the true definition of rhetoric and how it was used centuries ago and allows us to see how it continues to live on before our very own eyes. By providing real life scenarios and past experiences, he allows us to connect to his personalized persuasive tools. He says “by teaching the tricks we use to persuade one another, the art of persuasion reveals the Matrix in all manipulative glory” (4) -which is true. All persuasion is is manipulation that tries to change “your mood, your mind, or your willingness to do something” (17). Advertising companies do it all the time with visual analysis of both commercials and billboards by using pathos.
Archer opens her essay with the description of the “grinning man” to describe the appearance of the homeless man and how he carries himself. This also is a good attention grabber from the beginning and keeps the reader's attention. Also this can lead the reader to having an idea of the character. For my final project of the semester, Project 4, I decided to revise my rhetorical analysis of project 2. I took your comments and feedback very solemnly, to avail further my inditement. I understood the feedback consummately, and optically discerned precisely what I needed to do. The main thing I wanted to fixate on was understanding that the paper was filled with many conceptions, and constructing it down to precise conceptions, and expounding them exhaustively. I abstracted some conceptions that I believe that weren’t apart of the process of explicating the argument or how it works.

The author of Complications," Atul Gawane, has written this specific chapter to persuade the reader of his thesis. If the choice you make is incorrect, then it could potentially be a matter of life and death. Atul Gawande gives multiple examples of patients that have made wrong and right decisions to prove his point. He uses the personal anecdotes of four different people, with four decisions to prove his point.
America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. This phrase is sung with pride and passion by American citizens. However, some of America’s hardest working citizens are shackled down by a factor that they have no control over. Poverty, is what’s keeping citizens imprisoned while they should be living free. The United States is made up of some of the most diverse and interesting cultures in the world. Jamila Lyiscott proves this by showing her different dialects and how they are all equally important. Lyiscott believes that the way she speaks towards her parents, towards her friends, and towards her colleagues are all one in the same. Throughout the entirety of her speech, Lyiscott changes up her vocal patterns and dialects so that the audience can understand first hand what each of these dialects are. When she talks about her father, Lyiscott uses her native tongue, when she talks to her fellow neighbors and close friends she switches it up to a more urbanized dialect, and when she is in school she masks the other two dialects with a professional sounding language.
Past leaders such as Andrew Jackson, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Marc Antony are evidence that society does not reward morality and good character in leadership. Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability.
