Alexander Hamilton: American Founding Fathers

Alexander Hamilton was one of the American founding fathers, he became one of the many faces the United States has. He played an essential part when founding the Constitution and the country, becoming the 1st United States Secretary of the Treasury (September 11, 1789 – January 31, 1795), and Senior Officer of the Army (December 14, 1799 – June 15, 1800). He also was the delegate to the Congress of the Confederation from New York (November 3, 1788 – March 2, 1789, and November 3, 1782 – June 21, 1783). Hamilton accomplished numerous achievements since he was given the chance, he was able to become one of the best immigrants the United States he had. However, he could not have done this without adapting to the culture.

His story began in Charlestown, Nevis, in the British Leeward Island on January 11, 1757. His mother married a Scotsman with later on left Hamilton alone with his brother (James Jr. Hamilton) and mother. Alexander’s mother passed away in 1768 when he was thirteen years old. Not wanting to give up Hamilton started working as a clerk to gain money. Shortly after their cousin took them in, he committed suicide causing the brothers to be separated. Alexander and his brother ended up receiving their education in a private school led by a Jewish headmistress, Alexandar supplemented his education with a family library of 34 books, he finished his studies on the mainland in the Elizabethtown Academy (a grammar school).
