In a society that embraces the advancement of scientific knowledge, my desire to contribute in the field of science is incredibly strong. Specifically, I am greatly interested in the micro-sciences, such as biochemistry and general chemistry. These academic programs focus on the building blocks of all living and nonliving material throughout the universe. This research offers me endless opportunities to make a positive difference. I often think about my potential contributions in scientific discovery and how they would be used to enhance mankind’s understanding of our surroundings. These thoughts are the force behind my reason to major in chemistry, and I believe receiving the Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship will aid in this endeavor.
Chemistry, along with its subtopics, is a wonderful major to select if one wishes to unmask the truth behind some of the most dynamic questions in the scientific community. My fascination in this field is driven simply by my inquisitive personality. Accordingly, the concept of studying the miniscule aspects of our environment, such as the quarks of a proton, is tremendously stimulating. I wish to perform various research that will contribute to the collective advancement of what humans know and are capable of doing. Whether the findings are major or minor, they could

Education is not limited to a classroom setting; in fact, I believe that discoveries are best when there is adventure. Therefore, a lifestyle in the city that never sleeps will provide this, especially when traveling. Relating my career objectives to my intended majors is a task that should not be bewildering. Both should complement each other and exemplify the most significant characteristics of the person. Personally, my aspiration to perform research in New York City pairs well with my genuine interest in one of the most miraculous subjects,
1. Provide a brief summary (in your own words) of the company (i.e., history of the company). Capital One, which is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, was founded in 1988 by Mr. Richard D. Fairbank. He wanted to bring information, testing, technology, and amazing people to the team. So, that they could work together to bring financial products straight to consumers that had been customized.
In my sophomore year of high school, my English teacher assigned the class to a read a novel of our choice and report back what we liked most about it. My choice was Ethan Frome and I read the book repeatedly just so I could connect back to the characters and the setting of the novel. When I completed my sophomore year in high school, I discovered my passion for literature and the genres that accompanied it. I always knew that undergraduate studies would be my chance to grow more with my new found interest. .After high school I attended Mississippi Valley State University, a Historically Black University, where I majored in English and graduated with honors.
It is incredibly humbling and exciting to receive not only this award, but also the recognition that follows. This scholarship is something that will not only help me pay for my education but will be a direct influence in my success as a student and a Sigma Chi. As a recipient of this award, I thank the Sigma Chi Foundation and my own brothers for aiding me in my journey for academic excellence and the embodiment of the seven virtues which we all follow. Thank you
To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.
After this research experience, I hope to have a better understanding of my place in the world of
Jack Ma once said, “The world needs new leadership, but the new leadership is about working together.” This could not be more true at Boston University through its Kilachand Honors College. I believe it is because their approach of interdisciplinary problem-solving, is about expanding students’ world-views. In this program you are learning with different individuals who have different interest and fields of study. According to Pew Research Center, “Political polarization is the defining feature of early 21st century American politics...”.
An aspect of research I am interested in is microbiology. It is something that I think is very interesting. There were many discoveries in microbiology and much more left to know about. I am curious about microbiology. I believe the Academy can help me obtain and accomplish my future goals and aspiration by providing enriched studies and research on microbiology.
Scientific experiments can have little significance. Others can change lives. In Daniel Keyes’ 1966 novel Flowers for Algernon, Charlie Gordon partakes in an experiment designed to increase his intelligence. However, the experiment ends up failing. In Robert Louis Stevenson’s
My name is Hannah Lee, a rising senior at Hilliard Darby High School. At my school, I am involved in extracurriculars such as Ceramics Competitive Team and Senior Class Cabinet. Next year, I plan on studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies or Bioethics and Humanities at Columbia University, Brown University, or Ohio State University. I have always been intrigued in the innovative nature of engineering, but I also want to further study science on a molecular level. Besides growing in my passion for science, I am also looking forward to developing a politically thinking mind in my post-secondary education.
I’m very grateful for all the support I’ve received at Harvard. Knowing that I have the support of professors Jene Golovchenko, Daniel Branton and Lene Hau has helped me move forward through difficult moments. I’m very grateful to Jene Golovhenko for his incredibly enthusiastic attitude about physics in general and my research project in particular. It has been infectious! Daniel Branton has always been very helpful with his direct and to the point advice and while I didn’t always take full advantage of his support, knowing that I had it made a difference.
"In other studies you go as far as others have gone before you, and there is nothing more to know; but in a scientific pursuit there is continual food for discovery and wonder".(p.50). It is a very tempting field to someone with a curious mind, it allows him to explore, to express himself and give him the possibility of leaving his mark on something significant. Discovering something new could have a very positive affect on our life's especially in medicine, people live longer and people lives are been saved every day because of new discoveries but, we must make sure to use the tools we have correctly and not exploit it, Proceed with caution and always check
Science helps us in finding reasons behind the Biological processes and the technology aids the development of the novel strategies to manipulate it. Before joining the graduate school, I wanted to gather knowledge of both scientific and technical research. According to me, research is a beautiful piece of a sketch made by joining the dots of the knowledge gathered from the academics. I believe, that a graduate program will give me that opportunity to join the dots which I have gathered by studying Biochemistry and Biochemical Engineering to create an amazing sketch of life. I am leading to the ultimate goal of my life by taking small steps every day.
To Graduate Committee Admission of Biochemistry and Cell Biology Program of Rice University: My inclination to study biology comes to me since I was little boy. I always found amazing the capabilities of living beings and mechanisms that allow life, development and evolution of organisms. Particularly interesting were my first approaches to microbiology in early classes in high school. My fascination by biological sciences was such that it led me to win the National Biology Contest held in Cuba, my native country in 2004. This was one of my first academic achievements in my short career and allowed me to directly enter the best pre-university school in my country.
My goal is to solve biological problems and help in contributing to scientific strategies to eradicate ailments and improve public health. My inclination towards to fields of cell signaling, biochemistry and molecular biology lead me to achieve good grades in these subjects during my graduate and post graduate
