Analyzing Harry Beard's Speech On Ted Talks

Generation Z is a generation that has had a lot of an impact on our society. In ways that some agree with or might not agree with. Gen Z has changed and has done things differently. As Harry Beard goes and talks about ¨what makes Generation Z so different¨” on Ted Talks, and empowers his generation on the different ways the generation has done things. He does this by using the three appeals of logos, ethos, and pathos. In the beginning, Harry Beard starts his speech strongly by using Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. Two excellent examples of humans who changed our society, they were known for the impact they had on the civil rights movement. As many may know Generation Z is known for using their voice for those who need to be heard and want to feel included, he uses these two examples to then relate them to Generation Z. He connects this back to the fact that they would have loved to be in our shoes and how much more of an impact they would have had if they would have been in our generation. Towads the end of his ted talk he addresses the audience by emphasizing that he was not trying to give a social media talk. Harry says¨social media is not what has made gen z so amazing because it´s way more than social media¨His emphasizing this idea really tells the audience that he is not trying to give all credits due to social media platforms although they have helped it is not the only reason Gen Z has thrived. As he says this he gives the emotion of consideration, this is a big emotion that is smart to give to an audience especially when you are stating an opinion. It makes the audience take and be opened minded not only on social media but maybe also change their perspective on how they think of Generation Z. On how much they are underestimated and how smart Generation Z actually
