Starting when I was in 7th grade I began to volunteer at our hometown Humane Society, I volunteered there whenever I had free time up until I graduated high school this current year. When volunteering I have always chose to volunteer with animals over every other given option. Working with animals is something I am very passionate about, and something I am very skilled at doing. I have more knowledge at working with animals than maybe working with a newborn child when my mom owns a daycare. My past service experience will benefit my team and future service, because my prior knowledge of working with animals will help me with the horses me and my team will be working with. My prior knowledge of cleaning behind animals will benefit with my team
When you volunteer you are able to advance your career. Volunteering will allow you to experience things like customer service, how to handle different obstacles and even enhance your knowledge on certain things. HiCaliber Horse Rescue is home to many horses that have been dumped at the auction where most horses end up getting sold to kill pens through the auctions. HiCaliber is a large recuse known for buying neglected horses from the auction. They take these horses home, where they retrain and adopt them out to new homes.
As long as the task can be performed and the certification is received, you may qualify to have another creature, like a horse, to be your service
Did you know that there are approximately “387,000 service dogs being used in the U.S as of today” according to an article (servicedogcentral.com).Dogs often are the main source of therapy for humans, Dogs are loyal and they often feel empathy dogs are the perfect consunler just less talkative and a little bit hairier. Dogs not only provide therapy , but they also protect and serve. I strongly believe that having a dog in your life can promote a happier and healthier life. Having a dog will protect you in more ways than one, when its comes to service dogs they guide the blind and aid the disabled but dogs are used for much much more, not only are they used for forms of therapy they are also used to promote public goods, dogs can be used for the police force and also used for firefighters, even for military. Dogs have great noses which makes them a great candidate for search and rescue and also to protect U.S borders.
Through volunteering you interact with people less fortunate and hear their stories. Some people lost their jobs and can't find income. Then you have other people who are out of work because they broke their leg. The result of all these horrible things happening to them it made our paths cross. So not only was I there to help and learn about the food pantry, I also there to be
Service animals are individually trained to perform tasks and do work that mitigate their handlers’ disabilities. Service animals are much more than highly trained companions. Working as part of a team with their human partners, service animals help them attain the safety and independence from which their handlers’ disabilities would otherwise limit them. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects the rights of people with disabilities to be accompanied by their service animals in public places, like businesses, restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, etc.
Some programs an animal control officer would take would be
Animal captivity costs outweigh the benefits, and the violation of the rights of the individual animals is unjustifiable. Animals everywhere are being taken into captivity on a daily basis for the sole purpose of entertainment and education. Societies opinions of how zoos treat animals and their opinions of whether or not animals should be held in captivity is a common topic in today’s media but yet; hundreds of animals are still dying every year as zoos are still one of the top tourist attractions in the United States. Zoo captivity physically and mentally harms the well-being of animals in more ways than people derive. Solely, there are thousands of pieces of textual evidence and statistics that explain the prime reasons zoos should be abolished entirely.
Did you know that diabetes service animals can smell a person's breath and blood? This allows them to recognize if their owners blood sugar is too high or too low. This can be a good tool for people whose blood sugar drops very fast. Service animals benefit a person’s life by allowing their owners to have someone around at all times, getting their owners moving, and helping owners with everyday tasks.
Three possible careers in the field of Laboratory science that I am interested in are lab animal technologist, veterinary pathologist, and lab animal veterinarian. I researched these careers as I did not know much about them and they all have animal caretaking in them. I know that I want to work hands on with animals as just being around them brings me joy. I also know that helping them get better or being able to prevent unnecessary harm to any animal would make my job more than worth doing. Doing research on these careers has made me broaden my mind a bit more to all the possible jobs I can do in my like.
For my service learning, I decided to volunteer at the Salvation Army in St. Cloud. I was excited to begin volunteering and make a difference in this community. At the Salvation Army, my job was to help in the food shelf. I feel this job gave me a unique insight into the hunger issue in this community.
Anatole France, a French poet, journalist, and novelist, once said, “It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal. Until one has loved an animal, part of one’s soul remains unawakened”. Animals in general are very important to the human race. More specifically, dogs are very beneficial to us and that is why they are often called 'man's best friend’. They are friendly and loyal.
Animal testing is defined as “the use of non-human animals in research and development projects, especially for purposes of determining the safety of substances such as foods or drugs” (Dictionary.com). This experimentation has been practiced since around 500 BCE, and has allowed the human race to discover many things that otherwise would have not been discovered (ProCon). The use of animal testing has increased, due to its many necessary benefits, such as: helping form vaccinations and uncovering new diseases in the specific species being tested on (AALAS). However, many animal activist groups such as, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), have spoken out against the issue. These groups claim animal testing to be “inhumane”
I definitely have always had a real passion and interest for serving, which is why I spend a lot of my time serving in the community. I used to think that I wanted to focus on working with the youth, but being on the college campus for so long
I have been chosen to be a possible volunteer at my local animal shelter. I must write an essay to prove that I am the best candidate for the job. I think I should be chosen because I am a very kind person to both people and animals, I work very well with animals, and I have grown up around animals so I know very much about them and how to take care of them. I am extremely caring towards other people and animals of all kinds. I feel that I would be the perfect candidate for the job because of that.
Volunteering is very important; it is both vital to the people receiving aid as it satisfies their needs, and it is important to those administering aid as it gives them joy and helps them become better people. The reason I volunteered for St. Margaret 's Fair was so I could finally stop sitting around and get to work. When I saw the opportunity to do something important, I grasped at it; I selected the ring toss game was because I felt it would be fun and important. I do believe my job at the St. Margaret 's Fair was very important as it both collected money for those in need and, at the same time, instilled me with a love of volunteering. The purpose of the fair was to collect money for humanitarian efforts in the local area.
