1. Research question and hypothesis
As specified, this research aims to evaluate the hypothesis that uncontrolled and excessive use of social media online had indeed served as a driving force of cyber-bullying behavior. As this research covers the perspectives of both victims and perpetrators by utilizing the interpretivist paradigm, this research will also be able to uncover if youths who excessively use social media, cyber-bullies and their victims are without a doubt interrelated in an endless loop as a by-effect of influence.

This idea ties well with the issue of cyber bullying as the subjects would already have past experiences with cyber bullying and would likely be inclined to provide insightful information. However, Barbour had pointed out that information gathered would be based on a common experience and those who had different and more exclusive anecdotes would likely keep the information to themselves. Another issue of concern is that the perpetrators may be defensive about their experiences and may feel victimized or fear being judged by the other participants for being cyber bullies and may feel the urge to defend and justify their actions as a team. This may result in the moderator to lose control during the discussion. As mentioned by David Stewart et. Al (2007), it is crucial for the moderator to control the self-appointed leaders who may tend to dominate the

In this article, Ferriter (2009) reveals many benefits from the use of technology in the classroom with our 21st-century learners. The resources and suggestions mentioned throughout this reading will assist teachers in ways to avoid problems and becoming engaging instructors by using technology in innovative ways. What I found was so innovative by this approach was by creating a network of innovative co-learners where collaboration takes place regularly, Ferriter (2009), is able to experiment with digital connections without ever meeting other teachers in person. Not only is this beneficial for students and teachers all over the world, but also simple. What I found was unique and useful was the worldwide collaboration that helps teachers explore skills and dispositions that assisted with the network cooperation by creating shared content.
1) The stakes of our project are the lives of African-American women who are put behind bars for non-violent offenses, specifically drug offenses. We are directing our podcast towards law students who are looking to become public defenders and district attorneys. With that being said, the average public defender and district attorney are not familiar with the lives of the people they prosecute and defend. Nor are most of them familiar with the hardships drug offenses cause African-American families because of The War on Drugs.

Therefore, the victim gets support from a trusted individual who most likely empathizes with him or her. This method is effective to an audience member, who may be a victim of cyber bullying, because she is able to manipulate the individual into valuing what she values as an
Research also indicated that girls are more likely to be victims of bullying on social media networks than boys. More than half on bullied students feel hopeless so they do not tell anyone when cyber bullying occurs and stay quiet about their problems. Even though many people try to ignore bullies and stay strong, cyber bullying often lead them to very serious mental issues such as anxiety, insomnia or depression and can also have a long-term damage on teenagers’ self-esteem. Cyber bullying victims are two to nine times more likely to commit suicide than people who do not experience bullying on the internet. Statistics like this make it obvious that bullying on social media networks has a massive negative impact on people’s lives that grows every
This study proved that given the amount of time that adolescents are on computers unsupervised whether it be at home or in public libraries those who cyberbully are most often the ones that were prior victims to cyberbullying themselves. This study would benefit in research for “affects cyberbullying has on adolescents because it gives reasons to why cyberbullying bully in the first place. Although with was full of useful information it would have been more beneficial to monitor social media sites that the kids were using verses how long the kids were on the internet. In doing so, it would have supported their theory of cyberbullies being vicitam of bullying as
Cyberbullying may occur in a person’s life, whether the person would be the enforcer or receiver. In Moalem’s essay, he points out, this growing epidemic and provides statistical data to exemplify the number of children that are bullied in our society. In the essay Moalem states that, “The real numbers are hard to come by, but it’s thought that at least three quarters of all children have been bullied at some point in their lives, which means there’s a good chance you were on the receiving end of such unfortunate experiences yourself while you were growing up” (280). Since the advancements of technology, the way people bully each other became more advanced than people could think. The new wave of cyberbullying is classified as a “joke” and the person who is bullying another person in most cases would be label as a “savage”.
The internet enables information to be both pervasive and ever-present, creating a limitless amount of opportunities for victimization to take place (Hinduja & Patchin, 2015). All these circumstances factor in together to produce a new form of bullying that has become more problematic for today’s
The study that was carried out by a sample group comprised middle students revealed findings that learners are highly the ones involved in cyber bullying (Çetin et al.,2012). Many characteristics emerged regarding the risk factors and frequency of the students being involved in cyber bullying. Unlike in the physical bullying where the victims of such actions represented a small and vulnerable group of children, the current research showed that the victims of the cyber bullying comprise a larger group. Risk factors were also established among three categories of children depending on a number of hours they spent on a computer. As much as technology has been efficient in global operations today, a limitation should be considered when it comes to teenagers and young people.
Beran and Li, (2007) and Willard (2007b) have put forth the idea of Cyber bullying and traditional bullying as closely interrelated phenomenon. They believe that individuals engaging in acts of traditional bullying are at a high risk of being involved in cyberbullying acts, and vice-versa. A few studies affirm these discoveries (Patchin & Hinduja, 2006). Feinberg and Robey, (2008); and Willard, (2007b) also identified the negative impact of cyber bullying on school atmosphere, thus, leading victims to face maladjustment issues. Further, students being bullied at school may turn bullies online so as to seek revenge against the offender at school (Beran & Li, 2007; Juvonen & Gross, 2008; Patchin & Hinduja, 2009; Shariff, 2008; Szoka &Thierer,
Also, this research was conducted five years ago when Facebook was really the only social media platform that was popular. Today, there are many more platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, and YouTube. With all these further options, cyberbullying is now more accessible than ever. According to research, more teens are on social networks, are using them for longer periods of time, and are posting more often than usual which leads to higher rates of cyberbullying (White). These factors show that there are various facets of social media that contribute to the drastic increase in cyberbullying.
