“Titus” and “Julius Caesar” plots the respective stories about a conspiracy encircling capturing of power to become the Roman emperor. The Roman play “Antony and Cleopatra” sets a new dimension in the conspiracy. The capturing of power takes a different turn with the incorporation of love and emotion in this tragedy. Though “Titus” is a fictional tragedy, it depicts a similar plot of revenge, murder, rape and treason like the history plays “Julius Caesar” and “Antony and Cleopatra”. In “Titus” and “Julius Caesar” the most important aspects that hammers a reader’s mind is the greed for power and the immoral acts of murder, revenge and rape that surrounds the plot to fulfill the greed. Brutus in “Julius Caesar” joins the conspiracy to kill Caesar thinking of the good of the Roman people. Both Brutus and Caesar shows a bright reflection of patriotism by their deeds for the good of the Romans. Antony whereas depicts a contradictory theme of patriotism. He leaves his own force in the battle to destroy and flees with Cleopatra. This cowardice act takes place because of his blind love for Cleopatra. Antony sacrifices his patriotic feeling for Cleopatra’s love. He values Cleopatra more than his motherland Rome. And then he also values her over the friendship that used to persist among the three members of the triumvirate. The trait of friendship in “Antony and Cleopatra” is quite consistent to the friendship that existed between Brutus and Caesar. Brutus and Caesar both are good friends but Brutus betrays Caesar by joining the conspiracy plot to kill Caesar for the betterment of Rome. And Antony though a good friend with Lepidus and Octavius as part of the triumvirate, goes to war against Octavius because he asks Cleopatra to take his side. Antony breaks the triumvirate for his fascination towards Cleopatra. However, Brutus and Cassius also reflects true act of friendship when they cannot bear the death of each other. “Antony and Cleopatra” depicts a different face of friendship where Antony sacrifices his respect and alliance with his friends for Cleopatra. Another significant aspect of “Julius Caesar” that “Antony and Cleopatra” complicates is trust and honor. Caesar might be a future threat in the eyes of Brutus. But he is an honorable man. He refuses to be the Emperor every time Antony offers. He dies a noble death serving the people of Rome. Also, Brutus might be wrong by joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar but he does it thinking of the betterment of Rome. Brutus is not evil in his mind rather he lives honorably and whatever he has done was

Several characters can be labeled as both villainous and heroic at different points in the play due to their actions, however, this does not apply to the character of Marcus Junius Brutus, who remains a hero through the entire play. Brutus is a hero for several reasons, The first reason Brutus is considered to be a hero is because he continuously stands up for what he believes in. After Brutus’ death, Antony recognizes that “this was the noblest man of them all”(88). This demonstrates how well Brutus was thought of even by his enemies. Octavius defends Caesar and will do what it takes to avenge him, making his relationship with Caesar strong.
This form of betrayal can be seen in the relationship between Brutus and Caesar. A friend to Julius Caesar, Brutus loves the man greatly, but he loves Rome even more. In the play, ‘The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”, by William Shakespeare, Brutus, after killing his friend, in light of the danger of Caesar’s growing ambition, uses ethos, logos, and pathos to meet ends with the people of Rome in a speech following the death of Julius Caesar himself. In Act III, Scene II, Brutus and Antony had a chance to give their explanation of what was tooken place at the Capitol. In “Julius Caesar” Brutus decided to do something for the best of Rome. Sin’s Perpetrator and Victim Human desire knows no bounds; everyone thirsts for something. Some thirst for power, some for wealth, and others for truth. This thirst is a driving factor for most actions, but it is not always for the best. Nowhere else are the dangers of wanting more prevalent than in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
