Have you ever been hunting? Maybe for deer? Could you imagine hunting big animals such as elephants, tigers, and lions? I understand hunting deer, but elephants? No way! Big game hunting should NOT be allowed. It can cause extinction, and can leave some animals with no habitats due to humans taking over their land. Big game hunting causes many different negative things to happen, but on of those negative things is that it can cause extinction. Currently, elephants are endangered because humans are selfish and want to take their ivory tusks. Humans have also depleted the tiger population down to less than 2,500 tigers in the whole world. When a certain species is removed from their ecosystem, it can have effects on their prey and their predators. Their prey’s population would increase, and their predator’s population would decrease due to their being nothing for it to eat. …show more content…
As animals underpopulated, us humans will take up more land to benefit ourselves. As we are taking up more land, we are taking away land from the animals that are left. This confines them, and also puts humans at risk for injury. If animals can see that humans are becoming more selfish over land, the animals may become more hostile and hurt humans. I can see how people would think this is okay--they just want to show off how “cool” they are. Even so, big game hunting should not be allowed. It is killing so many animals and leaving them with little to no
Big game hunting allows humans and animals to benefit from it. According to Ameena Schelling Ever since the death of Cecil the lion, the world 's been looking at trophy hunting a bit more closely. “While many people have condemned the practice as cruel, ardent big game hunters have stood up to defend it, arguing that
In the last couple of years, the issue regarding big game hunting has received more recognition since the killing of Cecil the lion in 2015. Despite the controversy concerning the use of legal paperwork by Walter Palmer, the individual who killed the lion, the killing of the exotic animal itself caused a major spark in the ethicality of trophy hunting. “The killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe in July 2015 reignited the debate over big game hunting” (Big Game). When looking at big game hunting from an ethical point of view, it is more beneficial than opposers realize. There are many controversies surrounding the dispute of the legality involving big game hunting, most educated hunters know that big game hunting actually helps, not hurts, the
The concept of ethical hunting has been around for some time and it is important that all hunters have an understanding of its principles and practice them when in the field. Ethical hunting means that a person knows and respects the game hunted, follows the law and behaves in a way that will satisfy what society expects of a hunter. Ethical hunters are familiar with the places they hunt, the wildlife that live there and the way they should behave when hunting.
Although some countries have banned trophy hunting, they continue to allow “canned hunting” in which animals are bred to be hunted. Big game hunting takes a turn for the worse when it becomes canned hunting, or when it can be linked to poaching. People all over the world are voicing their opinion on the sport, legal or illegal. Big game trophy hunting is an unethical game, and this sport should be banned in more countries.
Looking at the outrage with Cecil the lion would make it logical to make poaching and general violence against animals illegal. That's a bit moral of a debate, and as someone who eats meat I feel a bit uncomfortable talking about ethics with animals, but I think killing animals for sport is wrong regardless of what goes on at
Hunting permits cost money. The money raises depending on the size of the game and location. People will bid thousand close to millions just to go hunt a trophy animal as stated on The Rhino Hunter, “paid $350,000 for a hunting trip to Namibia to shoot and kill an endangered species”. Yes sometimes they do go hunt endangered species but what people don’t know is they go hunt the older animals, the animals that bring danger to the rest of the species. These bids all the money that
Hunting Hunting is a topic that is argued frequently. Some say it is cruel and unsafe. Others say it is safe and provides meat for food. In my opinion, I think hunting is safe and isn’t cruel because the animal has time to get away from the hunter. I do not support unethical hunting practices such as baiting, canned hunting, trophy hunting, and hunting of stocked animals.
Ecosystems are composed of a predator prey relationships that help keep balance within it. Without predators the prey population would rise to a point where the ecosystem does not have enough resources to support them, causing starvation and eventually death within the population. The population would get to a point where there is
Some may disagree that hunting’s purpose is to hunt the animals only and not to destroy their ecosystem which is true sometimes. They agree
If a nation deems something doable then the nation should be able to do it, although with some agreed upon limitations. Whaling will not kill the
Thesis: Hunting for the purpose of decorating your wall rather than putting me on the table has become a favorite pastime of many hunters today. In the 1960 's there are were 100,000 across the continent to as few as 25,000 today. ”
One of the best days of my life was when we went deer hunting in South Dakota with my dad, brother, uncle and two cousins, but before I tell you about my trip let me tell you how it started. We left early in the morning to head to South Dakota where my cousin Jacob, who had just got a job as Game warden in Custer State Park, was taking us deer hunting. We got as far as Fargo, North Dakota when my cousin Keith asked my dad where our license were. Then to our surprise we forgot them back at home. We were lucky enough to have my two aunts and mom bring us the license because they were going to Fargo that day anyways for a girls shopping day.
Killing helpless animals for the sake of pleasure and glory is cruel! The ignorant action of the hunters just for the showcase of their glory is out of any reasonable thoughts, animals suffer enormously when they are killed and decapitated. It’s a shame that these so-called people kill animals only for putting some souvenir at their workplace or house. When hunters hunt innocent animals for amusement, it diminishes them from the environment. Since many of the game animals are on the approach of becoming extinct, it is advised not to practice trophy hunting to feel fulfilled on the killing of guiltless wildlife animals.
Poaching is defined as illegally capturing, injuring, or killing an animal that is not on your land. The motive to commit this crime over the years has shifted from simply from individuals illegally hunting game to large organizations slaughtering animals to gain profit. Many are aware of this issue, but underestimate the sheer enormity of it. According to The Fish and Wildlife Service, there is an estimated $15-20 billion global market generated from poaching and trafficking of animals and their body parts. They have also reported that over 8,000 endangered species do not receive any federal protection.
