Today, the Arizona Board of Education released letter grades for the schools throughout the state of Arizona. The A-F Accountability System is designed to empower schools, and to provide feedback on student progress and success in Arizona. The formula, created by Arizona Board of Education, includes procfiency and growth as measured by the AZMerit test given in the 2016 school year.
The Tempe School District, are proud to share our letter grades. We have a great deal to celebrate and we have ongoing work to do to show continuous improvement in all of our classrooms. We teach to the whole child and not every area is tested or accounted for in letter grades. We value accountability and the transparency that comes with it.
Putting a lens on our student acheivement and student growth is an opportunity to continue the conversation about the hard work that takes place every day in our

Every day we develop better lesson plans, assessments and behavior plans and stronger instructional practices, we are helping to build a better world. Every day we take extra time to unlock the key to success for a student with our continuous improvement plans, our safe rides on our school busses, fixing an air conditioner, coach teachers and leaders and hiring the best and brightest, we are building a better world.
We will celebrate our ten schools receiving an A or B letter grade. We had seven schools receive a C and three schools in the D range. We can discuss how some of our schools struggled to find highly effective teachers in certain areas or how some of our schools did not show the needed grow because they didn’t have a strong enough focus on standards based instruction. However, the conversation should be on how we can improve and do better. We will rise to the challenge and do better for each of our
In reviewing the Arizona Department of Education’s, (ADE) career and technical education (CTE) program standards for the emergency medical services (EMT), it became clear that the State of Arizona operates from an abbreviated version of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards. The curriculum for EMT is a national standard curriculum and is the foundation of EMS prehospital training. In addition, the new curriculum parallels the recommendations of the National EMS Education. The ADE, uses the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) testing as the summative assessment upon completion of the program secondary and post-secondary schools. Although the ADE has a significant role in the continuous success of EMT programs and curriculum, the students and educational programs are directed by the Arizona Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (AZBEMS).
This position provided me with the opportunity to affect positive change for two student populations with distinct needs: Long Term English Learners and English Learners who received special education services. During my tenure, I led teachers of ELs in analyzing CST and Periodic Assessment data in English Language arts and Mathematics, identifying the appropriate ELD and Access-to-Core/SDAIE strategies to meet students needs, through lesson/strategy study cycles. Through lesson study and coaching conversations with teachers, Monroe’s EL subgroup achieved a 38-point increase on the CST ELA during the 2012-2013 school year, surpassing its AYP targets for math and English Language Arts for this subgroup. While an impressive achievement, the students’ success reflected the underlying mandate to provide rigorous content to all ELs with fidelity to SDAIE and Access to Core strategies by teachers and the professional understanding that we are a team of teachers working together each day to impact student
Speaker: The speaker of the article is Marc Sternberg, a former principal and the current director for the K-12 education for the Walter Family Foundation. He is a credible source because he has worked in the education system before and has turned a school with a 34% graduation rate to an 86% graduation rate due to him hiring exceptional teachers. Occasion: Marc Sternberg is addressing this topic because of the mayor’s recent decision to employ bad teachers. This is revealed in the beginning of the article. He is frustrated because he is a former principal and knows the effect of an exceptional teacher on the students.
In today’s American education system, grades, teacher feedback, and parental involvement plays an important role in a student's academic life. Emanuella Grinberg’s article “Ditching Letter Grades for a 'Window' Into the Classroom” discusses whether traditional letter grade system like report cards should be replaced by a standard based system that provides more feedback from teachers and allows parents to be more involved in their child's academic progress. Grinberg provides examples of the different systems used by multiple schools as a replacement of traditional report cards. According to Grinberg, the new systems are being used in order replace the problem that periodic report cards are not giving parents enough insight about a child's progress
Issues in Texas Education Education is a very important topic to me and many other people in this state. The technology in this world has become a great tool for the education system but with technology comes a price. And our government doesn’t seem to realize schools need more money to be able to teach their kids more effectively and keep them involved and entertained in the subjects they are learning. From 2007 to 2016 the overall expenditures of the education system have increased by 18.3 Billion dollars. That is a major increase in funding that the Texas government isn’t noticing that we need more money to fund our local school.
In Austin, Texas, members of the Texas State Board of Education use persuasion to gain votes for their personal beliefs on whether teaching methods and textbook standards should be revised or upheld. Among the board members are citizens who are a variety of educators. Also, there are experts who come to voice their knowledge of new findings, and debate about old and new educational facts. Although there were experts, there was much debate on spoken facts.
Students scattered around the classroom, eyes wide open, chattered voices circle around the whole classroom talking about last night’s homework and how easy it was. The teacher walks in and everyone's head turns to the front, and suddenly the classroom goes silent, every student in the class knows to pull out their homework, as they correct the homework, little whispers surround the classroom with “yes,” and sudden joy because they know their grade just went up in that class. Students experience this kind of knowledge and joy because they know what to expect from their teachers, and they get rewarded by their knowledge because our school is great, due to our curriculum and circumstances we put on our students. Roscommon High School is a great
It is factually checked that Arizona's education system is ranked very poorly across the score board. Arizona is in the top 10 of the worst education systems in the US. Arizona is ranked #47 is the education system out of 51. Arizona is ranked #49th in the dropout rate.
The overall goal is for all students to be taken care of while in the classroom and to gain the knowledge that they need in order to be successful in life. My goal is to become a teacher and I will continue to work for the goal that my ancestors created many years ago. Every student deserves to be able to walk out of the classroom having learned how to become a responsible citizen that can change the world. In early Arkansas education, teachers taught in small one-room schoolhouses, instructed many age groups of kids, worked in unideal conditions, and taught all of the basics in the “Three R’s”. All of these challenges were to make sure that their students had an education.
Student transcripts and graduation requirements must be continually monitored and any gaps must be reported to the student and the counselor immediately. Part of this strategy is the timely grading of student work. At the Charter School of San Diego, there was a mandatory turnaround time of three business days for the grading of all student work. Any issues, especially with writing assignments, must be communicated to the student as soon as possible. The lessons in A+ must also be monitored as students revise and complete
The Nevada Department of Education oversees public schools all across the state of Nevada and is in charge of managing the state's educational system. Nevada's educational system, however, has faced several difficulties recently and continues to do so. Nevada has low graduation rates and school dropout, placing it among the bottom in terms of educational outcomes. Despite an increase in graduation rates in recent years, there is still significant room for improvement in the state. The state also has a teacher shortage, particularly in fields with high demand notably that revolve around STEM math, science, and in special education.
In 1848 The Massachusetts Board viewed education as important. Specifically, Horace Mann reported that intelligence is the grand condition which shows the standards people had in this time period. “In 2012, the national average for full-time students at 4-year degree-granting institutions was 59 percent.” Today, education seems more like a chore than a privilege. You will need reading and writing skills in every aspect of your life, education is crucial to our society no matter the extent of it.
He directly speaks about past teachers and experiences with education he's had, and his hopes for future teachers. Since this speech went viral and got positive feedback from many, it is effective in reaching the intended audience, and has potential to create a true change in how teachers treat their students and the education system. Livingston presents a call to action for teachers and future teachers to help their students reach their full potential, help them with their obstacles, and foster equality in the classroom.
The OSTP contaminates the privacy of students with a public display of each individual school grade. Although the school test is per student the outcome impacts the entire school. The letter grade given regardless good or bad is used to validate the work of the teacher and student, our children should have the freedom to go to school without the world watching. The OSTP extinguishes the desire and passion of our students with a learning disability. Teachers provide lessons for students that are comprehensive, while helping build confidence in their own ability to learn.
I would like to help provide a sound educational program for all students, maintaining school integrity and continuity in educational philosophy. My love of teaching and compassion for students and families, especially those who face the challenges of living, working, and attending school in a new country, has inspired my vision of the future and my desire to use my skills to enrich the well-being of my community.
