According to Karla Freeman (2013) appealing to joining a group of people who share similar interests will attract boomers and give them a reason to consider an offer. Boomers are seeking excitement and want to do more since they are close to or currently retired. Providing offers and ads that fit their needs of being active, involved, independent, and healthy will resonate well with this generation (Freeman, 2013). The Progressive Era in the United States was a period of time during the 1890’s-1920’s where a huge wave of immigrants arrived to this country. As a result, there was a rapid growth in urbanization and industrialization in America. Soon, landlords created tenement slum with unhealthy sanitary conditions. The American dream is the hope to acquire currency, large homes, raise a middle-class family, and pursue what brings people joy in life. But in the year 2016, the American dream becomes hard to believe in. The American dream may still exist, but it is not equally accessible to all Americans. As of 2010 the National Center of Education indicated that 30 percent of college freshmen are first generation college students. First generation students are fresh to the ideal of college and they need a mental support system during so because most of them are not equipped to deal with tough situations.
Advertisers will always try to target the younger audience since there is more of them other than the older audience. When kids see something bright or hear something repetitive then the kids will remember it which causes them to end up buying the product when in the store. Parents want what's right for their kids so if the kid really wants that cereal or item the parents will buy it so the kids requests will be fulfilled. In the ad when saying part of a delicious breakfast, then parents will immediately wanna buy the product because they want their child to be healthy.
