He has a family of loosers, and then accidentally travels back 30 years to 1955 in a time machine built by his friend, the Doc (Christopher Lloyd). Once he's there, his then-young mother falls in love with him without Marty wanting it instead of his father, and Marty has to unite them, while figuring out with the young Doc how to get him get back to 1985. For example, in the opening scene, there are about 30 clocks, new and old on the wall and everything is automated on times. Also the main power supply for coming back into the present is located above the main clock on the city hall. Everywhere in the movie there are times and clocks to support this time travel effect. There are also many great camera angles, for example in the opening scene where the travelling over the wall also symbolises the time. There are also very smartly used camera angles to show the pursuit of the ‘evil gang’ of Marty. One of the cool gags in "Back to the Future" is the way the town has changed in 30 years. As Marty discovers when he sits down at a lunch counter next to his Dad - who is, of course, a teenager himself. Because the movie has so much fun with the paradoxes and predicaments of a kid meeting his own parents, and the problems that they see that affect their future life. It is very interesting to see how Marty tackles these problems to make his present life better and to improve his parent's life. A really cool movie with many surprises that are one of its great pleasures. Nils
