Preparation is the key to successfully navigating any writing assignment. Thus far, I have found this class to be beneficial in this regard. To start, the readings that we have discussed have been very stimulating from a creative standpoint. This is important since imagination is necessary to properly convey one’s thoughts and feelings. Likewise, the responses and subsequent class discussions have further served to promote abstract and analytical thinking. Also, by considering the opinions of others, it has further enabled me to examine and refine my own beliefs. The summary assignment made for good practice at interpreting information and then relating that material to others. Building upon that was the synthesis essay, which was a useful exercise in consolidating multiple sources into one complete and coherent article. Finally, the Blackfish documentary served to illustrate what can be achieved when one utilizes all of the aforementioned skills in their work (Blackfish). Altogether, I believe that I am well equipped for my research paper. …show more content…
A universal health care system is a health care system that provides all citizens of a specific country with health care coverage. My focus is not on the financial ramifications of implementing universal health care (although they will undoubtedly be discussed, albeit briefly, at some point in the paper), but on the personal consequences of doing so and, contrarily, of failing to do so. It is my argument that universal health coverage is not just essential to the welfare of a country, but that health care is a fundamental and inalienable human
This class will hopefully fulfill my wish to become a more knowledgeable writer, and teach me how to succeed in life past this class, past high school, and past university- at least when it comes to writing. I hope to discover
Recently, environmental controversies are major issues. Since the environmental movement in the 1960’s, the mass media has brought this matter forth (Mass). In many countries, efforts of the media help the citizens become well aware of what is wrong and what actions can be performed. As a policy to inform the people, this leads to the communication via internet (Ahmad). Within the United States, about 5,500 animals are killed, and those alive have improper habitats (World).
The documentary Blackfish, came out in 2013 and it paints SeaWorld in a bad light. It follows the story of an orca named Tilikum and the 3 deaths he has been linked to. Since the documentary came out, SeaWorld's sales have dropped and SeaWorld claims the documentary is misleading. Since _________, SeaWorld has faced some major changes, starting with their trainers are no longer aloud to be in the water with the orcas and varies fines.
Blackfish By Kirstin O’Neill The blackfish article and the movie are arguing about the captivity of the whales and how they harmful and how they are not. So the documentary had said that the whales are more aggressive in captivity than in the wild. The article claims that whales live longer in captivity than in the wild.
In 2013, Gabriela Cowperthwaite directed the documentary Blackfish. This documentary is about Tilikum, an orca from SeaWorld that has taken the lives of many trainers. The documentary makes the claim that orcas should be freed from captivity. While in captivity they are causing harm to both themselves, humans, and the other orcas. Blackfish is a great example of an argument that can be rhetorically analyzed because it has pathos, ethos, and logos.
Preface: Through the course of this winter semester, Composition 106 has taught me many things in different aspects which include, learning about myself, knowing how far I came as a person, developing better writing and expressing strategies, and lastly reading skills. When I registered for English 111, I held the personal belief that the whole process of proper writing restrained and suppressed the cleverness and inventiveness of story-telling. I pondered the question, “Is it possible for me to write a proper essay that can satisfy my inner story-teller and fulfill all the requirements of a college level paper. Immediately, my unease was addressed with our class’s opening assignment a reflection essay that requested me to write about what I thought were the weaknesses and strengths of my writing abilities . In addition, I was asked to discuss my personal writing goals and what I hoped to improve on throughout the semester. My unease, preconceptions, and insecurities about learning and using writing processes and techniques were disclosed, declared, and visible by the essay.

According to Dr. Belk’s findings, the search for a universal health care system goes as far as 1912 around the time when “Theodore Roosevelt was trying to retake the Presidency as an independent candidate” and one of his progressive reforms was to create a national health insurance program. However, since he lost the election, it took years for this issue to become a political one. In addition, before the 20’s health care, was not expensive and to think of an insurance in health care was absurd. Later on, in the virtue of scientific discoveries and advancements, the cost of health services had to rise, so very few were the ones that were eager to pay for them unless they really needed the treatment and in some of the cases, they were “so sick it was too late” to do something to cure the illness. Therefore, business was not good for doctors and hospitals since only the wealthy and the dying would reach for their services.
The health care system that an individual interacts with determines not only the health coverage that they receive, but has many larger implications such as the effect on quality of life. General Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, the World Health Organization Director, states that “ The main message from this report is that the health and well- being of people around the world depend critically on the performance of the health systems that serve them.” (WHO, 2000). Luckily, health care systems are always under a microscope to make them more cost effective as well as benefit their users. However, what is effective for one population may not be the case in another which is also true on a person-to-person basis.
