Brian Bosworth was a standout football player at Oklahoma, supposedly the next Dick Butkus. He was a three-time first team All American, two time Butkus award winner along with being a two-time Academic All-American. Bosworth led his team to three straight Orange Bowl appearances, and played in National Championships, winning one in 1985. During the fall of 1986 the NCAA came out with a drug test program for teams before bowl games. The Boz tested positive for steroids, and was banned from playing in the Orange Bowl, which would be the last game he would be a part of in his college career. In general, I don’t believe that juveniles can be born evil or bad. Environmental factors carry a lot of weight when it comes to how children develop and grow into adults. However, in the uniquely gritty case of Willie Bosket, I believe it’s safe to say that if there were ever a case of a child being “born bad”, then Willie definitely meets the mark. When looking back at his lengthy family history filled with extreme deviance and outright violence, you can quite easily see that Willie fits right into the mold that was created long before he was even born.
