Research Note #4: “Letter from a Birmingham Jail [King, Jr.]” Paragraph A: Item #2, “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, is a correspondence written by Martin Luther King Jr. from a jail cell in Birmingham, Alabama after he was arrested for peacefully protesting the segregation of African Americans and Whites. As one of the most recognized documents in the history of the United States other than his “I Have a Dream…” speech, the letter is utilized to discredit the erroneous arguments established by clergymen for condemning the Birmingham demonstrations, which is primarily accomplished through the application of the Aristotelian appeals and Kairos. Throughout the eight-page letter, he incorporates references and quotes from well-respected historical
The resource that I pick was no more the children of Birmingham 1963 and the turning point of the civil rights movement was the best because it had most of the information. Also had pictures and people saying what happened. The second best resource is 1963 Birmingham civil rights campaign Barbra Sylvia shores it talks about being a Africa American was like in the civil rights movement. If you listen deeper in what she is saying she talks about the police cruelty. The letter from Birmingham jail was the third best source because MLK.jr wrote the letter to white leaders.
I would like to begin, sirs, by announcing; I am not the first with these thoughts. Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine – only a few of the men that share the same notion. It is true; I do not hold the reputation of these men. Nonetheless, I have been involved in American Politics for the past decade . We have passed the simple point of peace.
The Youth and School Resource Officers School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn police officers trained to serve and protect the community. As such, they have a duty to serve and protect schools within their jurisdiction as part of a total community-policing strategy. Research has shown that the youth with healthy relationships and “protective factors” have a reduced chance of becoming involved in serious delinquency. These “protective factors” include adding school resource officers to school campuses with the growing number of at-risk students. It is important for schools to have SROs because the SRO’s role on school campus is keeping students safe and supporting the education mission not only as law enforcement officer but also as a teacher and a counselor.
Many people has read Dr. martin Luther king 's letter, but how many people understands what his words in his letter meant. I strongly feel what he stresses and actually made me feel like I was there through the tragedies and struggles that had happen back then. Reading Mr. king 's letter actually gave me some food for thought as I collectively go through my day and questioning myself what if the past was the present now. My mind has been open to freedom as well as my physical body in this environment unlike Dr. King and others of his time. Dr. Martin Luther King had strategies not strategies for violence, but to demand freedom with nonviolent acts.
Effectiveness of Sex Offender Registries: Do They Reduce Recidivism? Sex offenders are commonly viewed as the worst of the worst in regards to criminal offenders. Wyatt Erovick AP English 12-6-16 Letter From a Birmingham Jail Analysis Luther King Jr., in his letter, Letter From a Birmingham Jail, uses persuasive techniques to grab the reader’s attention and get them to agree with him. In King’s 13 and 14th paragraph of the letter, he uses a logical appeal to persuade the audience. In the beginning of paragraph 14, King states that “We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God-given rights. The nations of Asia and Africa are moving with jetlike speed toward gaining political independence, but we still creep at horse-and-buggy pace toward gaining a cup of coffee at a lunch counter.”

Many ask should offenders have the right to live near schools, parks or daycares after serving their time for the offense. This is one of the most emotionally debated issues in criminal law today. How to manage the risk of sexual offenders being rehabilitated back into the community? “Beyond mandatory registration and community notification, over a dozen states have enacted residency restrictions that forbid sex offenders from living within a certain distance of schools, parks, day care centers, or even places where children normally congregate.” said Durling. Author Caleb Durling conducts a research to discuss his opinion how the law should modified.
