Natalee Holloway's murder took place in May 2005 in Aruba, an island in the Caribbean. Natalee, an 18-year-old American student who was on a graduation trip, disappeared after hanging out with a group of local men at a nightclub. Her body was never found and the case remains unsolved.
Natalee Holloway's murder drew international media attention, with frequent reports on the investigations and speculation about what happened to her. Natalee Ann Holloway was an American teenager who went missing on May 30, 2005. She had recently graduated high school, and was on a graduation trip to Aruba in the Caribbean. The last person to be seen with Natalee was Joran Van der Sloot, a dutch already convicted of killing Stephany Flores' Ramirez years earlier, and many leads have led Aruban police to believe that he killed Holloway. However, the details aren't concrete. Even though no arrests have been made connected to the kidnapping or murder of Natalee Holloway, detailed evidence proves that Joran van der Sloot killed Holloway and disposed of her body to cover up the crime.
On 2nd August 1994, 13 year old American boy Eric Smith was charged with the murder of a 4 year old boy called Derrick Robbie in Savona. Derrick Robbie was walking alone to a summer camp just down the road from where he lived, when Smith saw him and lured him off the path and into a small patch of woods on the way to the camp (Leung, 2004). It was there where Smith went on to strangle Derrick Robbie and unearthed some rocks nearby which he used to beat him to death. After this Smith sodomised the 4 year old with a stick he’d found and left him there to be found (Staas, 2014). A couple of days after the body was found by the police Smith went to the police station to see if he could help with the crime, Smith denied seeing Derrick Robbie at
Casey Anthony and the Missing Girl Caylee. Casey Anthony killed her daughter Caylee, she later then used multiple lies to cover it up. December 11th 2008, a body was found little under half a mile away from the Anthony residence. Later found out the body was confirmed to be Caylee. Several months before this, Casey anthony did not report Caylee Anthony until 31 days after she was actually missing.
The death of Jonbenet became national news worldwide and so did the investigation. Lots of questions and assumptions were investigated but her killer was never found. Jonbenet Ramsey “was a 6-year old beauty queen who was found murdered in her parents’ Boulder, Colorado home on December 26, 1996”(biography.com). JonBenet’s mother was a beauty pageant queens as well. “Ramsey won her first competition in 1994 at just four years old at the Colorado State All-Star Kids Pageant.
The murder of JonBenet Ramsey was discovered following the discovery of a ransom letter found by her mother Patsy Ramsey on December 26, 1996 (Saferstein, 2015). There were numerous mistakes made by the Boulder Colorado Police Department. The house was not secured, moreover, not preserved as a crime scene. The ransom letter alone should have prompted the law enforcement officers on scene to secure the house to preserve any evidence. The letter was found at the foot of the stairs within the residence indicating an intruder had in fact entered the Ramsey residence.
After Holloway didn't arrive at her hotel the next morning, police began an island-wide search for the teen. A week later after collecting their initial evidence, police arrested Joran, Deepak and Satish as suspects in Holloway's disappearance. The boys' testimonies initially coincided, saying that they all went to the beach with Holloway and then dropped her back off at her hotel (Biography). This story soon dissolved, however, when video surveillance tape of the hotel revealed that the Kalpoe brothers' car never dropped Holloway back home. Armed with a new confession, Deepak and Satish told investigators that they left van der Sloot and Holloway at a fisherman's hut on a nearby beach, at Holloway's insistence.
On June 5, Aruban police detained Nick John and Abraham Jones, former security guards from the nearby Allegro Hotel which was then closed for renovation, on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. Reports indicate that the two former guards were known for cruising hotels to pick up women, and at least one of them had a prior incident with law enforcement. John and Jones were released on June 13 without being charged. (Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, 2015) On June 9, 2005, Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering Holloway.

The investigation of this complex and mysterious crime remains one of the most difficult challenges for law enforcement authorities. The circumstances surrounding JonBenét's death, including the lack of signs of a break-in and the presence of duct tape over the victim's mouth, make the case all the more mysterious. The murder of JonBenét Ramsey is also notable for the fact that several theories and speculations have been raised over the years.
Black Dahlia Murder In 1947 the tragic loss of Elizabeth Short shocked many people all over the world. This wasn’t your typical murder, this murder had to have been planned out and thought about for a while before its happening. The “Black Dahlia Murder” is the biggest unsolved case in Los Angeles and is still an undergoing investigation. I have reason to believe that Dr. Gorge Hodel is the murderer behind the brutality of Elizabeth Short’s body.
December 26, 1996, JonBenet Ramsey; a six-year-old beauty queen was found dead in the basement of her family’s Boulder, Colorado home. She had been strangled and had a skull fracture, and there was evidence of sexual assault. The JonBenet Ramsey case gained so much media attention due to the fact that at only six years old, JonBenet received so many accolades then everything abruptly seized due to her murder. Additionally, the complexities behind the case, and the fact that it went unsolved, made it a high-profile murder case. Given the number of potential suspects, and the complex crime scene, made it a complicated case from the start.
In the case of Mary Barnett, I agree with the courts decision to find her guilty of second degree murder and manslaughter. This is largely based on my analysis of the witnesses presented during the trial and the demeanor and actions of the defendant. Having an associates degree in psychology helped me formulate decisions about the role of each character and what part they were to play during the course of the trial. I utilized the teaching from the text book as well as the concepts from my social psychology class which required me to people watch and analyze the surroundings, body language, and actions of others.

The murder of Jonbenet Ramsey is a really depressing and mysterious at that. The murder was extremely brutal, she had wounds on her face, a cracked skull, duct tape on her mouth, she was tied up, and she had a garrote around her neck. According to the documentary we watched she was hit in the head with a flashlight and then strangled with a garrote. It was expected that she snatched a piece of pineapple from her brother’s bowl in which he hit her with a flashlight because of it, and she was still alive so it was most likely the parents got in on it because they didn’t want to be filed for abuse and jailed so they strangled her to death and put a blanket over her body, breaking a window and adding a ransom note to make it seem like someone broke in.
