Celebration of culture for Indigenous Australians is imperative as a tool for defining and conserving their identity. By actively participating in traditional Indigenous culture in the form of games, students from diverse backgrounds can form an awareness and respect for Indigenous culture. The “Puldjungi” ball game instruction sheet could be used as an activity for a physical education lesson for grade five students in Victoria (Australian Sports Commission, 2008). The Puldjungi game would provide students with an example of a game which was played by young Indigenous Australians in Victoria. By partaking in the Puldjungi game, students will learn about an aspect of Indigenous Australian culture in Victoria in a fun and practical way.
Playing rugby has enabled me to acquire some vital skills which are often not taught inside the classroom, such as effective communication and striving to achieve above expectations not just as an individual but more importantly as part of a team. Becoming captain of the school rugby team has developed these skills even further and I have to take additional responsibility for both myself and my team; this highlights my commitment and leadership qualities. This passion for rugby has shown me that being part of a club is more than just playing a game, its being a part of a much bigger community which comes with different responsibilities, such as helping out at club dinners and also having the privilege of being a ball boy when Widnes Vikings played at New Brighton. This level of commitment shows that when I have passion for what I am doing, I am determined to be the best I possibly can, which can also be seen through my love of cricket having played for New Brighton over the past ten years. My passion for sport has been highlighted by the number of awards I have achieved, including players’ player of the year and most committed player amongst other

Training young girls to women athletics to increase their skill level of the game. Motivational approach comes in play with this organization from when I use to basketball. Now that I’m older and coaching basketball, my knowledge of the sport is very useful. Young girls in my town walk up to me everyday telling me how they use to watch me and want to be able to play like I did. With me already coaching and having the training fitness business bring more ambition to these young ladies, motivating them into taking their game up a notch.

“The principle of affected interests has particular relevance to social policy and to the models of policy-making” Brad and McKenzie (2010 .128). Just as Brad and McKenzie (2010) cite as an example of” most parents who are deeply concerned about the well-being of their children to the point of becoming active participants in the School Board meetings, daycare centers, or community recreation centers”…,( ) a more inclusive and anti-oppressive approach will give the frontline workers as well as clients’ guardians or parents and clients who have the “personal choice and competence” the opportunity to be involved in policy making process that affects them. (p.128). Brad and Mackenzie (2010), continued to substantiate their claims by quoting Dal (1970) who posited that “Everyone who is affected by decision of a government should have a right to participate in that government” (128). Working with people with developmental disabilities, has made me understand that frontline workers, in most cases, due to their direct engagement with clients, seem to be having a better understanding of each other than the management, who in this case is more of an outsider than
On Saturday, September 9th, I went to the Enabling Aquatics session at the YMCA in Santa Rosa. I went from 10:15 to 12:40. When I first got to the YMCA I met up with the main coordinator, Kelly, who gave us a tour of the YMCA on where to go and where to sign in when we first arrive. We got in our bathing suits and then we went into the therapy pool (which is a 4 feet deep and 95 degrees), filled with volunteers and students who had disabilities which ranged from autism to cerebral palsy to someone with physical deficiencies. I have worked with children who had disabilities in the past but I haven’t worked as much with adults.

Sports in the Victorian Era were mainly competitive and taken seriously. However, some of the sports and games were brought to exercise, flirt, and socialize. They also brought less competitive games and playful activities to be shared by women and children. Some of their activities included walking, riding, cycling, gardening, playing a musical instrument, and visiting. These activities were mainly to stay busy and interfere with children’s chores (Mitchell 215).

Competitive sports provide a community which kids can work with and beat other teams with. “Playing a sport helps children develop social skills which would benefit them even when they grow older. Playing sports teaches them about teamwork and cooperating with others. They learn to interact with people from different ages” (Mahaseth). When these kids grow up, they can use these skills to be able to cooperate and talk with their colleagues.
