"Hey boss, how far do you think we'll get today?", I asked. "We'll keep going until the sun sets", the trail boss said with an annoyed look on his face. This being my first cattle drive, I didn't know what to expect or what it was going to be like. I also didn't get much respect. Being the drag rider, I got called "dust-eater" a lot. "Time to get going", the boss said. The other cowhands and I got on our horses, rounded up the cattle, and started our journey from New Mexico. It was only five o' clock in the morning so it was going to be a long, dreadful day. It was finally three o' clock in the afternoon, our lunch time. I was starving and couldn't wait to eat, but I had to. I was always the last one to get my food, because I'm the drag rider. My job as a drag rider, I had to make sure the slow cattle kept up with the herd. I …show more content…
"Ah! Help me!", screamed the trail boss. There was a lion on top of him trying to rip his head off. I quickly grabbed a knife from my back pocket and ran towards the lion as fast as I could. I jumped onto this vicious lion and started stabbing it with all of my might. After five minutes of stabbing went by, the lion was finally dead. The trail boss was free! "Thank you!", the boss said. Everybody gave me high fives and said "Good job!" or "Nice man!". Lunch was over and it was time to start traveling again. All of us got back on our horses and continued our journey. Five hours passed and the sky was pitch black. "Time to hit the hay", the trail boss said. As the other cowhands winded down, I rounded up the last few cows. When I was done I made a cot on the cold ground. Today had been a long day and I was already dreading tomorrow. I was about to fall asleep when suddenly the boss said, "I still can't believe you saved me from that lion. Is there anything that I can do to repay you?""Can I be the first one to get my food next time?", I

Rodeo Mornings The sound of the alarm clock going off and the sound of the horses neighing is what most of us hear every morning. Rodeo mornings are always crazy, so much to do in so little time. Some people say the rodeo life is easy, but most don't realize all the hard work that really goes into it. The beginning of a busy weekend consists of, getting up at the crack of dawn getting the horses fed, gathering up all the equipment/ tack and making sure we have everything we need because there is no time to turn around if we forgot something.
He rode on, sure he would find what he sought before long. Not far from town, he found the bravos handiwork. Anger churned in the cauldron of his chest, and he swore soft and low. Jackson dismounted, tied off his horse, and climbed over the low
A very restless night into a rushed morning, my nerves were on edge, I zipped up my boots and ran out the door. The drive went quickly; I felt prepared as I pulled into the parking lot. The Lethal Fence looked like a normal chain-link fence just taller the razor wire along the top letting it be known that escape is no easy task. I walked through security and I was given my work assignment.
The people found that the cows were filled with dirt, dust, and sand. People had to wear masks over their faces to keep from swallowing dirt and sand. If the people swallowed too much dirt or sand, they would have an ending just like the cows. People dragged chains on their cars. If they didn't drag chains on their cars, their cars would be lifted up in the air.
I’m running from the terror behind me. Five bulls have found me and are trying to kill me. There was nowhere for me to go, I was done for it. The bulls are a hundred yards behind me and are closing in. I brace myself for the excruciating pain to come.

He has heard so much about him from the pack and immediately befriended him. They both set off on a journey but they soon get word that Nemean is to be killed.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted my twin brother, Travers, "Hey, can you come out to the ranch? The power went out and Porky got out. I'm taking Cloud out to find him. " I quickly grabbed my saddle, saddle pad, stirrups and bridle. I mounted Cloud as fast as I could, clicked my heels and began to canter out into the
After unloading our belongings into the cabin and getting some lunch, it was time to head for the woods. The never ending green seemed to surround the truck as we made our drive down the old gravel road. As soon as we had arrived to the trail my mom and I loaded the fourwheeler. When carrying the bags of hunting bait onto wheeler, we realized how much work we really had ahead of us. With the four wheeler fully loaded we made our way further up the trail.
I rolled over and hit snooze for the third time and dozed back into a soft peaceful sleep. I heard Thomas Rhett softly singing Leave Right Now but only realized it’s my alarm going off again and was now 5:46 a.m. Boone was going to be here in less then ten minutes. I launched off my half deflated air mattress and quickly got dressed into my warm oversized hunting gear. I grabbed some rice crispy bars and threw them in my pocket for a late breakfast.
