Going back to school at my age was a big decision, one that I didn’t make overnight. I knew that trying to go back to school while raising my grandchildren was not going to be an easy task, but I knew this had to be done. My current job does not pay much money and the money I receive from Social Services is inadequate, so my solution is to go to school to get better job. The first semester has been by far the most challenging thing I have ever faced this year. One of those challenges is making back and forth from to class while trying to work. I feel that going to school is for the better-good, because with more education I can get a better job and better pay to support my family. Failure is not an option. Second, when I made the decision to go back to college, I was not prepared for projects and assignments being due at the same time. This is something I should have researched more and by taking a full class load in my first semester seemed to have made it worse. I am receiving a Pell grant, so I was thinking that I could take classes equaling 12 credits, to get as many as I could in a semester, to graduate on time, but that was a bad idea. I was so unaware that most of my work would be online along with in class instruction and most assignments would be due at same time. Also, the discussion boards were a thing that would be graded. So, trying to handle five classes; two online and three in the class, has been a challenge. The final challenge has been the hardest, which is spending time taking care of my grandchildren. I have custody of them and there is never enough

I 'm not a native of Pennsylvania. Anyone can tell that from my intense love of snow and fall, two things you couldn 't find in a South Florida city like where I lived, where temperatures were always high and foliage stayed the same year round. If you were born in Pennsylvania, you grew up hearing people tell stories of hitting a deer at night meanwhile I grew up hearing stories of people finding alligators in their backyard. Most people know what it 's like to move to a new place, whether it 's a new town, state or country, however, I feel my dramatic move along with the circumstances surrounding it are unique. It taught me that you can make the best out of even the worst situations.

During this time I also relocated to Albany New York where I obtained my Associate degree in Business administration from Everest College online.
Something such as returning back to school was long gone and in my past goals. Finding motivation to attend college is easy, keeping the motivation to finish is the difficult part. I decided to enroll in college to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Finance. I hope that the degree will give me the opportunity to apply for a better position within the organization that I currently work for. I’m only taking 5 classes this year, which makes my life a little less stressing. My toughest subject this year was probably Economics. It was something different, a new experience. I was introduced to a whole new level of vocabulary and it was tough to memorize. I also did horrible in the tests, but I was able to push through that
One of the main issues that has influenced where I attend school is money. I took most of my prerequisites at a community college to save for nursing school. My parents saved very little money as my mother could not work and my father was a high school janitor. I have worked since I was 15, as a tutor, retail and whatever I could qualify for throughout high school and during my college years. However, most of the money I earned was allotted for tuition and came from financial aid and loans.
