Chapter 3- Analysis of Character Trait, recklessness Grace has had a problem with being very reckless. Throughout the book, you will see examples of Grace acting without thinking, and usually getting in trouble after. Most of the recklessness had to do with catching the scarred man, but I noticed that some of them had to do with other things as well. Something I noticed about the other times that Grace was being reckless that didn’t have to do with the Scarred Man was just Grace being the hero. One instance this happens is on Grace’s first night back at the embassy. He’s not playing anymore. He’s not having fun. This isn’t about torturing the kid sister, teasing her for being too small, too slow, too female to run with boys. “You scare me Grace.” Alexei sounds like he doesn’t want to admit it. But he does. “Yeah.” I take a slow step toward the embassy. “Sometimes I scare me, too.” To Alexei’s credit, he doesn’t follow. I can feel him watching me, though, his blue eyes tracking my every move. “You know I’m here if you need me, don’t you?” he calls out. When I look back, there’s no trace of his cocky smile. “Be careful, Alexei. The world is a dangerous place.” -Pages 229 & 230 This block quote shows how Grace has realized that Alexei might not always be stalking or annoying her. I think that this also shows how long their relationship has been, for him to know about Grace always breaking her bones. On the other hand, Alexei knowing that she hasn't been going to events with her grandfather is kind of creepy and stalkery, or Alexei just notices a lot of tiny details about her. I think that it’s pretty obvious that Alexei cares about Grace a lot, and i think that now, he might be watching her because he cares about her, not just because Jamie told him
