Chester Arthur
Chester Arthur was a son of a baptist preacher. Chester was born in Fairfield, Vermont on October 9, 1829. Before coming president, Chester was a school teacher. He graduated from the union college in 1848. Arthur was in the civil war in 1861. In 1858, he joined the state militia. He was a quartermaster of New York.Arthur had six sisters and one older brother. As a student, he enjoyed being a part of school pranks. Though not an outstanding student, he graduated in 1848 in the top third of his class. Also, Chester was named after the doctor that delivered him. His first son died randomly when he was only the age of three. On September 9 was the exact day Chester Arthur became the twenty- first president of the United States
