The idea that driving while talking on a cell phone impairs one 's driving ability has been in great discussion over the past years. Many researchers have conducted surveys and experimental trials to test the results of this issue that has lead to many fatalities related to motor vehicle accidents. The question is, how do you go about conducting an experiment that can prove this positive correlation? A control is the most important factor in this experimental design. The control is the experimental factors designed to eliminate any variables that could affect the results through bias reasonings or skewed data. The subjects must be placed in appropriate conditions, with equal treatment, and with the use of a proper control experiment. …show more content…
Most importantly, this course and the vehicle used would have to be certified and tested for safety before and after each use by a research subject. The subject would have to go through a five minute training session that would explain the precautions taken if an accident were to occur and this would be followed by signing a release form that would protect the researchers rights from being liable. The test subject would go through two trials of the experiment, one while talking on the phone and the other while not talking on the phone. These trials must be under the same conditions for each subject. For example - the time of day would have to be around the same time during each trial, car radios / music players must be shut off during the test, and the only passenger present would be an experimenter that records reaction times and driving behaviors. The course will begin at the same place and end at the same place. The data will all be recorded in relation to each subjects driving behaviors and then compared and statistically analyzed by an experimenter to determine whether these correlations exist or
Using a cell phone while driving has become increasingly common on our roads today. “Driving while yakking may seem harmless to you,” argues Easterbrook, “but try telling that to the loved ones of the hundreds or even thousands who die each year in totally avoidable phone-related accidents” (A-3). He proposes that there are more methods of catching people carrying out distracted driving. He poses the question, “If automated cameras can issue speeding tickets, why can’t they issue tickets to the owners of cars photographed with a driver using a phone” (A3)? Other potential dangers can even come from the cars themselves
The author believes that if cellphones are banned, the safety of many drivers would be increased. Drivers would no longer have their lives at risk if their distractions were reduced. In my view, Richtel
But what about texting and what about cell phones? Across the market area we continue to see risky driving which includes drivers talking and texting on their cell phone while driving. Please take a moment and review the attachments which include a PP and 2 videos which you could utilize during huddles with your teams.
What is distracted driving? Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person's attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger the driver, passengers, and bystander safety. I believe that it is extremely important to emphasize the dangers of distracted driving among all drivers, but most especially teenagers—in this age of new technology. I do think that many drivers are aware of the dangers of driving distracted, but it is also possible that they simply decide not to follow the rules.
These cell phones are a huge cause of many car accidents. Americans using their cell phones to text, call, or surf the internet while driving is the cause of up to about 80% of accidents (TextingnDriving par 1). So many people are seen using their phones while driving it is becoming impossible for police to gain control over the issue. People should not text and drive because, by altering their concentration it can result in dangers to themselves
In January 2004 a 20-year-old woman ran a red light while talking on a cell phone causing a horrific accident in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She killed a 12-year-old boy and endangered her life and lives of the other people in that intersection. Understanding the distracted brain: Why driving while using hands-free cell phones is risky behavior.(2012) (1st ed.,
I had not believed that I went into the study with observer bias, yet I found myself surprised with the number of witnessed phone acts. I had thought there would be more, perhaps as much as half, and therefore without realizing it-I did in fact bring some preconceived notions of mine to the study. Additionally, this study supposes that all drivers have cell phones, or take them when they travel, and that is most likely not the
A report says about 40,000+ people die every year because of car accidents with over 3 million injuries. As per the surveys conducted by various independent authorities, it has been reported that about 35%-40% of such accidents were caused because of alcoholic reason and about 30% because of over speeding. The objective of a defensive driving course is to reduce the risk of fatal accidents by educating the students about immediate judgment making and driving with excessive caution. Having a defensive driving course helps save you lot of money spend to fix the car after crashing and in worse case it would help you save your own life.
We Cannot Text and Drive MLA Style Writing Prompt: In “Word to Youth: Texting, Driving Don’t Mix” Larry Copeland illustrates how dangerous it is to text and drive, and interjects the study that reveals data that shows, although people are aware this behavior is dangerous, they continue to text and drive because it is their belief they “can do it safely.” Write an essay that expository explains why individuals cannot text and drive safely. Many drivers, not just youth, hold the belief that they are capable of texting while driving in a safe manner.

In the end, premiums can come down for the policyholder substantially, if he continues to use a disciplined driver for his vehicle. The car insurers can make telematics-based insurance a popular one by making it a profitable and helpful way out for the policyholders with tangible benefits compared with the cost incurred. For this, they need to evolve comprehensive policies to protect the sensitive data, its storage and security of the telematics generated data. These steps can help garner confidence of policyholders for opting the telematics-based vehicle insurance. While telematics rewards disciplined driving, it works as a disincentive for reckless driving.
SUMMARY This unit was based on assessing learner’s ability to observe effectively on the road that they are travelling in. it was all about examining the ability of the drivers to use their vehicle controls safely in order to reach their destinations. All over the world, there are more than 1.2 millions of deaths per year. More than 75% of the accidents are due to human errors. If we want to prevent accidents, this is the best way to do it. Also, a lot of accidents are caused by tiredness. With this invention, if you are tired, you could put the self-driving program and rest for the last part of your trip.
Topic: Problem-Solution: Texting and driving GP: To persuade SP: To persuade my audience to not text and drive on the road CI: To persuade my audience to not text while driving by stating factors that contribute to the problem and a few possible solutions INTRODUCTION AG: According to Edgar Snyder, 11 teens die every single day due to using the cell phone while driving. However Marc E. Weksler and Babette B. Weksler explain that “Neurophysiologic correlates of distracting second tasks during simulated driving have shown by MRI that a driver listening to someone speak suffers a 37% loss in parietal lobe activation associated with significant deterioration in driving accuracy, even when a phone is not being used or dialed”(386). So even though advanced technology is being created to try and make multitasking and driving easier people still can’t use it to their advantage because any other task being done other than driving still puts us at a huge risk of
