America is a country of dreams. Many people of different countries dream to come and live in the United States. America is usually called "a melting pot". It welcomes people from different countries, races, and religions, who hope to find freedom, new opportunities, and a new way of life. American history is built by immigrants, who bring their own cultures and traditions to an enormous new country. America looks like a mosaic where exists diversity of nations. The overall ethnic mosaic is made up of different components. It is true that the diversity makes America what it is now, and creates the challenges it faces.
As we develop, we learn many of our beliefs, attitudes and values from our parents. They are based on our own experiences

That is, we can discover what is associated with a label and so determine whether it is useful. Thus, cognitive psychology does not deny past learning but contends that we need not be governed solely by it. We can redefine what a label means, just as we redefine our beliefs and attitudes (Chapter 2, pg. 45). I moved to the United States, and came to Armenian society. The neighborhood was the “same” as in my own country. However, being away from my hometown and people who were my friend, made me think and wonder why I am here where nothing is familiar to me. After living in hell for two months, I realized that I have to forget everything that was in my past and start to get to know the new life style, new customs, new rules and new people. The environment was new, and it was hard for me to pass the language barrier. Even though, I graduated High School in my country, I had to start High School all over again. It was a hard time for me to adjust the new life and surroundings. I know Armenian, Russian and I have to learn the third main language which will help me to communicate with the people around me. Most motivation theories have addressed the issue of how much positive or negative affect is associated with a particular event. A central assumption of affect theories is that people approach things to experience positive affect and avoid things to guard against experiencing negative affect (Chapter 1, pg. …show more content…
The idea of will implies that people can create their own destiny. In other words, humans can dream about possible selves-about achieving some goal, becoming a different person, or doing something they have never done before. Next, they can adopt one of these possible selves as their goal and then, by coupling such a goal with knowledge of how to achieve goals, can make their dreams a reality (Chapter 1, pg. 9). Personality is a person’s fairly consistent patterns of acting, thinking and feeling. Person’s personality is created by society surrounding that person. Person gets own personality by society where it defines what is right or wrong. The surrounding environment or atmosphere has a huge influence on me. Coming to this country I created my own personality, because I became a part of society where person chooses its own lifestyle and people to surround him/her. Living in this free country, which provides you with a lot of opportunities, I realized that I had to get education parallel to my work. I went to community college and now I am a student of California State University, Northridge. My dreams come
People from all over the world came to the US for many reasons, and with them came their culture. The US is considered today as a place where, for the most part, all people and cultures are accepted. This can all be traced back to the immigrants that came to the US in the late 1800s. These people brought their customs and traditions to the US and allowed the people to really experience how other people around the world live. Foods, religions, governments, and ideals are just some of the many thing immigrants brought to the US that overall made the US a much more complex country.
America can be described in many different ways, but America in definition is a land mass occupied by a mixture of different ethnicities who all believe in similar ideals such as living in a land enriched with opportunities where you a free from persecution and able to live out your beliefs. These American ideals have evolved over time with the influence of several different civilizations with varying beliefs. Two of the groups involved in this evolution of ideals were the Iroquois and the Spanish. The Iroquois and the Spanish had drastically different views on every aspect of life, but ideals from both their civilizations merged to create the place America is today. The Iroquois were a civilization who strongly believed in equality, welcoming
The United States of America is the most diverse country in the world today. You can travel to the mountainy southern states, or the flat midwest, and the two places are basically completely different countries with completely different cultures. This is a direct correlation from in Colonial America how the colonies were so different even though they were all English owned. Because the English colonies were all so diverse, this led to our present day nation to be such a “melting pot.” Although England had thirteen Colonies in America, the Colonies had substantial differences between them, like how they were formed for different reasons, the basis of their economies were different, and the role religion played in each colony varied.
This diverse nation has so many types of religions in it, from it’s people. Socially we have relations to all of the countries, since the USA is a superpower. The colonies gave this country a solid
America is known for its diverse culture and society. It is full of many races and contains various ethnic groups which help shape it and make it what it is. America is a country that was built by immigrants and slaves. The Germans and the Chinese were a part of the immigrants that helped to build the foundations on which the United States stands. The Germans were the first to come to America and the Chinese followed around 150 years later.
One of America’s many nicknames is the Melting Pot. America was given this nickname due to the variation of people it is home to. Many people who have mainly descended from African, Spanish, Irish, Middle Eastern, Swedish, and German roots live in America. Many of these races have combined; hence the term The Melting Pot.
America’s Diverse Population In the nineteenth century, rates of immigration across the world increased. Within thirty years, over eleven million immigrants came to the United States. There were new types of people migrating than what the United States were used to seeing as well. Which made people from different backgrounds and of different race work and live in tight spaces together; causing them to be unified.
Diversity is the beauty of America, people from different ethnicities, backgrounds, and cultures coexist peacefully and eventually meld into an almost homogeneous society. But
The United States of America, is known to be one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world. It has often been referred to by many as a global melting pot or as locals may say callaloo, due to the amassing of diverse ethnicities, cultures and nationalities. Within its borders, resides immigrants or descendants of immigrants from almost every region in the world, and each has in some way added to the American culture and way of life. America is known for its stance on freedom, it is a nation that values equality and justice, this can be noted in the last few words of their national anthem ‘indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’ However, for many, high levels of economic and social inequalities are daily struggles, a battle that has been fought for decades to claim the most basic rights, in the pursuit of achieving the American Dream.
America is the place that seems to give opportunities and equal changes to all. They have more freedom than others (but not total freedom). America is a united people working together. I believe America is a place where all people have a chance to succeed in life. I also believe that in America people have the freedom to stand up for their beliefs and fight for them.
America’s identity is defined differently by every individual. Ideally it was to be a place of freedom and acceptance, identified by its message of liberty and hard-work, however the question arises whether America is a melting pot in which only one culture dominates or it a mosaic of many peoples’ histories. America’s potential and true identity lies within its ability to assimilate and create a natural individualism despite race, class, and immigration standing. A country as powerful and influential as America is within industry, politics, and socioeconomics cannot be abstract in definition.
A person’s personality is defined by habitual behaviors, with cognitive and emotional patterns that factor into the biological and environmental factors. Personality is the way one behaves, thinks and feels. Theorists are interested to learn what shapes personality, what causes one to behave, think and feel the way one does. Different theorists have different beliefs in what causes these individual differences. These individual differences can be split into two categories, nature and nurture. Nature would be environment while nature would be the brain and the genes, also known as genotype.
These personality trates make me who I am. Another thing about personalities are the qualities that you possess. For example, my qualities are very close to my personality type. I have a kindness in me along with the forgiveness
