Pony is walking down the street after a movie when they pull up in their “tuff” looking car and attack him. After this occurs and he and Johnny are at the movies, Pony just lets out everything to a Soc named Cherry. He tells her what his parents were like and how they died. He talks about Johnny and Dally. This explains how Pony feels about his life and his regrets. Pony’s brother Soda is in a serious relationship with a girl named Sandy. He tells Ponyboy he is going to marry her. He says, “I think I’m going to marry Sandy. After she gets out of school and I get a better job and stuff,”(Hinton 17-18). He then finds out that she is pregnant with a baby that is not his. He still wants to marry her but she refuses and ignores him completely. This shows Soda’s true colors. He is a good person who wants to do the honorable thing. Once Ponyboy gets back from being on the run he has to go to court. He is asked only a few questions about life at home and then set free. Overall, the book shows a lot about the characters that are essential to the story. You begin to feel as if you know them. The book has many good details that are not included in the
From here it progresses. Without knowing it, Ponyboy, Soda Pony’s older brother, Johnny and Two-bit, start flirting with two Soc’s girlfriends. This sparked a number of events, such as when Johnny and Ponyboy get home, Ponyboy 's oldest brother, Darry, gets angry at him because he was out too late and then hits him which lead to Ponyboy and Johnny running away to the nearest park where they get jumped by Socs and Johnny kills a man, from there they became criminals on the run. They hide out in an abandoned church which later catches on fire and they rescue children from it but Johnny gets hurt. Ponyboy is a 14 year old who lives with his brothers in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Tulsa - During these past few days, Ponyboy has been in contact with one of the bumpiest roads in his life that could ever happen. To be under hiding as wanted by police for the manslaughter of Robert “Bob” Sheldon. Regardless, in recent measures is now being praised as a child savior from a recent fire in Windrixville. Moreover, Ponyboy no longer under the custody of his parents due to a horrific car crash has been living with his older brothers Darry along with Sodapop Curtis. These trio of brothers have been living in desperation as Darry has a life of two different occupations.
In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, how did three people's actions affect one person? Soda, Johnny, and Dally’s choices affect Ponyboy by staying calm, helping others, and making sure other people are okay. First, to make sure other people are okay, Ponyboy’s brother Soda decides to send Pony a letter whenever he is in Windrixville, because he wants to tell him how bad Soda and Darry feel and that he wants him to come home. “‘Hey Ponyboy’- he fumbled with a piece of paper in his back pocket-
In S. E. Hinton’s book, The Outsiders, the main character, Ponyboy, is forced to overcome many obstacles. His parents died, so he lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop. Darry is the oldest and pushes Ponyboy to excel in school, he also works two jobs to keep his brothers alive. Sodapop dropped out of high school and got a job at a gas station. His heart broke after the love of his life left town because she didn’t love him.
Ponyboy, a greaser, was one of the young boys that was matured throughout the book because of his hardships. Ponyboy 's relationship with his older brothers, Darry and Sodapop, is a key factor in how Ponyboy matured throughout the book. An example of Ponyboy almost maturing from the influence of Darry and Sodapop, is when their parents were killed in a car crash. When their Parents died it caused them to get closer and look out for eachother more (#3).
That shows the reader how Ponyboy reacted to Darry’s action. In the end, Ponyboy realizes how much his brother really loves him. Ponyboy realizes this when Darry shows up to the hospital and starts crying when he sees Ponyboy 98. “Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something for me.” (98).
As we know, Soda is the one who always resolves the conflict between the two brothers and their vastly conflicting values. Sodapop will do this by putting himself in both of their shoes and finding the best solution for both of them. However, to put himself in their shoes, he must understand them first. This shows that Sodapop acknowledges and wants to protect Ponyboy as his brother, even sacrificing important things in his life just to protect
Oftentimes Darry was hard on Pony and didn’t always show his love in the best way. At first PonyBoy truly believed that Darry didn’t love him, or even like him, "Darry doesn't love anyone or anything, except maybe Soda. I didn't hardly thought of him as being human." (Chapter 1) This is what Pony thought of his brother, and it led to a lot of bad events occurring in the book.
Imagine having to watch your back everywhere you go somewhere and must have someone with you everywhere you go. In the story The Outsiders there are two sides of town that are separated by poor and rich people. The state is Oklahoma in 1967 and there are Greasers and Socs too. Johnny, Ponyboy, and Darry are greasers because they are poor. Darry is a hard worker but is very protective of his brothers, Ponyboy is smart but hates where he lives, and Johnny carries a blade for safety or incase he gets jumped by socs their enemies.
In the story The Outsiders written by S.E Hinton, there are two rival groups/ gangs, the greasers and the Socs. A young boy named Ponyboy explained his journey being a greaser and the sacrifices, consequences, and decisions he had to manage with. This story reminds me of William Shakespeare's story Romeo and Juliet of their similarities which are they gangs, fights, and loyalty and differences that are the wealthiness, behaviors, and between the two books. One of the similarities of the two books is the groups/ gangs, because in Romeo and Juliet there are the Montague and Capulets and in The Outsiders there are the greasers and the Socs. They are both enemies and try to sabotage and fight each other when every they have the chance to.
Pony and his brothers are also part of a gang. This gang consists of Darry, Soda, Ponyboy, Johnny, Steve, Dally, and Two-bit. They are all greasers and they have been through hard times. One day, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally go to the drive in movies. Dally
¨And while I was thinking about it, I realized that I never had paid much attention to Soda's problems. Darry and I just took for granted that he didn't have any. ”(Hilton 174) Another point to add to the argument is that while all of this was going on, Soda still played the middleman in all of Darry and Ponyboy's arguments and he tried to smooth out the brother's relationship. He was the voice of reason in all of the duos spats, and worked on mitigating the
When you think of family you might think of adults and their children, or kids who lost their parents but are still related to each other. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton tells otherwise. It shows that even if you are not related, you can still be family; you can still have love and affection for each other. In the book, there is a contradiction between the gang’s biological family and their “family”. There is connection shown between the greasers from the Socs in the blue Mustang to Johnny dying in the hospital not wanting to see his mother.
In the beginning of the story S.E. Hinton writes “Soda put his hand on me, easy Ponyboy, they aint gonna hurt you no more” (Pg.8) Ponyboy had just been attacked by a Soc on the way home from the movies. This shows that these brother care about each other and will protect each other no matter what. Soda who is Ponyboys older brother, cares about him and all his friends because he wants him to stay safe from the Socs. This shows how brotherhood is forever by exemplifying Ponyboys and Soda’s tight relationship with each other.
Ponyboy lived with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop after his parents were killed in a car accident. Ponyboy had some friends in the gang: Steve, Two-Bit, Dally but his best friend was a boy named Johnny who was considered the gang`s mascot.
