Lewis and Clark made an extraordinary journey that opened new doors. Doors leading to meeting new cultures, experiences, new terrains, tools, foods, plants, animals, adventure, and ideas. Through the journey of Lewis and Clark, they meet Native Americans from all different tribes. One special in particular Native American they met is a women, Sacagawea. She accompanied Lewis and Clark for most of their journey. She helped communicate, do fair trades, give advice for geography, and helped them get food and find shelter. The meeting of the the two groups really changed their perspective and the Native Americans perspective way of life. For example, most of the Native Americans probably haven’t ever seen a white or black person, and that could …show more content…
Besides discovering the west, they explored different climates and terrains, and recorded them in their journals. Thank goodness for that, because now future explorers can use their journals and broaden their discoveries. Some may argue that Lewis and Clark didn’t do much, like one historian says “Lewis and Clark’s expedition does not deserve all the attention that it gets. Yes, they were the first to whites there, but their route was not used by future settlers or traders.” Even though future settlers or traders didn’t use their exact route, but they might not even have been able to trade or settle without their …show more content…
Throughout their travel, Lewis and Clark met many Native tribes and traded items and food. To both groups, they were being traded interesting looking foods and tools, and trading both benefited them. For example, Lewis and Clark traded items for horses so their travel could be easier, the Natives traded items for cloth and beads that they used for their apparel. Now that these two different groups are interested in these new items, they be inspired by one another. Like Lewis and Clark could have thought the way they build houses was extraordinary, and started brainstorming of ways to settle. Overall, both groups helped each other by inspiring one another and introducing the other to new foods and tools. That's not all though, while journeying through these different areas, they come across new plants and animals, and they name some, like the prairie dog. Finding new plants and animal species is very important because future explorers will know what’s dangerous and what can be helpful to

Lewis and Clark’s Expedition To many Americans, the Lewis and Clark expedition was fundamental in discovering the vastness that lay beyond the Mississippi River. Lewis and Clark discovered new things and paved the way for many settlements. Along their journey, they encountered indians, new regions, and wildlife they had never seen before.
The expedition was to find and map a water route across North America from Atlantic to Pacific Ocean (Northwest Passage). Establish good relations with Native Americans and announce territory is controlled by government. Plus collect information about plants and land along the route. There was a lot of plants, animals, and landscapes that we encountered in the expedition.
Lewis was already eager to start the trip. He immediately contacted his old friend, William Clark, to co-command the expedition. President Jefferson asked Lewis to gather information on plants, animals, and people. Lewis also bought samples of animals and plants he came across with. Lewis and Clark along with the rest of the group started their expedition journey at St. Louis, Missouri in May 1804.
It was a long, difficult and tiring journey for over a 2 year time period. They had to face many problems along the way like the cold weather, snake bites, mosquitoes, getting chased by bears, lack of food, and most of all crossing the Rocky Mountains. Their hardwork and dedication, even through all the struggles lead to many new discoveries like new people, animals, plants, land, waterways, and trades. Which made a mark in history and contributed to the knowledge of the country, if Lewis and Clark did not travel this journey, it could’ve been years before we discovered new lands, plants, animals, etc. The Lewis and Clark expedition opened a new chapter in history full of discovering new things and exploring new lands that humans did not know
-The Louisiana Purchase caused formation of new states, access to the Mississippi river system, increase in geographic and scientific knowledge, increased conflict with american indians, and it added more territory to the U.S. . Louisiana Purchase and Exploration The Constitution affected the Louisiana purchase because of the Purchase's constitutionality "Nowhere does the Constitution authorize the executive branch of the government to spend public funds to expand the boundaries of the nation. " This was a problem for Thomas Jefferson since he was after all elected by a "political philosophy that emphasized small government, low taxes, and "strict construction" of the Constitution"In conclusion by Jefferson's many ways technically the Louisiana purchase could
On their journey to find a route to the Pacific Ocean, they did encounter Native Americans. They found many Native tribes, the Mandans provided them with supplies for winter. Lewis and Clark helped the Natives by giving them all the new machinery and other stuff that they did not have. There was a very special Native American who helped Lewis and Clark on their journey to the Pacific Ocean, her name was Sacagawea. She was a Shoshone Indian and married to a man named Charbonneau, those two went on with Lewis and Clark on the journey to help.
The expedition was a huge highlight in Clark's life it taught him many things and led to later
Members chosen for the expedition were sought after for skills that included hunting, blacksmithing, and gunsmithing, making United States Army soldiers a good option for crew who traveled by land, water and horseback, for nearly 8,000 miles over mountains, through plains and by rivers (The Lewis and Clark Expedition, 2016). The success of the Lewis and Clark expedition was important to science, as they made important observations about the land of North America that lead to creation of maps with Captain Clark having the duty of mapping the landscape because of his experience: the result of maps made by Clark became one of the most important achievements of the western exploration. (The Lewis and Clark Expedition, 2016). The scientific information collected on geography, meteorology, cultures, and animal life and plant life were greatly important to the nation (Corps of Discover, 2016). The trip also was partially useful in creating peaceful relations with the American Indians in territories of the Northwest, although not all tribes were accepting of the gestures, giving gifts was important to building peaceful relationships with the American Indians (The Corp of Discovery, 2016).
The importance of the Lewis and Clark were monumental, beyond just documenting new plant life, animals, and land/water formation, but for the westward expansion. Writers would publish stories that would create hopes, dreams and fascinations about the adventure that lies in the west. For some it proposed a glamourous illusion of mystery and passion. The Corps of Discovery explorers made their way across the northwest, mapping the terrain of the newly purchased Louisiana Territory and westward across the Pacific Northwest.
Her presence as a female helped beliefs of the Native tribes that they were coming to conquer and helped peace on their mission. How did Sacagawea help L&C on their expedition? Sacagawea’s wisdom and translation skills, because of her wisdom they could easily get through the land and
