A good leader should respect the people they’re working with, take ownership of their mistakes, and be trustworthy. Odysseus didn’t show most of these traits, Odysseus didn’t care about his crew as much as he should have. Percy Jackson showed great respect to his crew, he was close friends with the people he was working with which made it easier for them to get along and complete tasks together. Odysseus’ men betrayed him when they opened the bag of wind that blew them back home, if Odysseus had a good relationship with his crewmates, that wouldn’t have happened. Odysseus shouldn’t have treated his men the way that he did, Percy Jackson is a better leader than Odysseus in many ways.
Odysseus didn’t have enough respect for his crew. Odysseus’ men were taking him across the ocean so that he could get home and weren’t getting compensated for it. Odysseus showed bad leadership when he left his men alone so he could sleep and while he was sleeping they opened a bag of wind and they were blown in the opposite direction of where they were headed. It’s important to be somewhat familiar with people that you will be doing life-threatening tasks with, it makes it easier when you can work as a team rather than one person doing the work by themselves. When Percy was in the boat with his friends, they worked together to get where they needed to be instead of him not doing any of the work because of “superiority”. Everyone in the group helped each other out, if someone was injured they would take the time to help them, or if someone was in a life-threatening situation they wouldn’t have to fend for themselves. Percy showed affection and care towards his crew, they would all look out for each other emotionally as well as physically, and they felt comfortable enough to put themselves in a vulnerable
