CHAPTER FOUR
Proposed Data Analysis Plan
To describe the sample in this study and to answer the proposed three research questions, the following analyses will be used:
Description of the Sample
In describing the sample, the following data will be presented; distribution of subjects’ income, parents’ level of education, and distribution of subjects’ mean response values in the areas of self-handicapping, self-efficacy, and capital. A Pearson correlation and Standard Equation Modeling (SEM) will be conducted to identify linear relationships and the relationships between the measured variables respectively. To determine how the factors are connected, the distribution of subjects’ holistic mean response will be used to prepare semi-structured

SEM is a multivariate measure used to understand patterns among a set of multiple variables and to assess if meaninness and adequacy in the model.Given that multiple cultural and socioeconomic factors will serve as independent variables and academic achievement and attainment are the dependent variables, a SEM data analysis is the appropriate approach to consider the relationships across multiple
Student Case Study I have chosen an eleven-year-old Hispanic American female student for my case study. Anna is in my homeroom class and in the 6th grade. In the classroom, she has various seating arrangements due to her behavior issues; talking, touching, eating, not in her seat, etc. She sits at the front of the room and next to my desk.
The hispanic student from a low income wakes up at 6am and groans Trying to make a name for himself but held back by student loans Seems like every night he falls asleep as he wept Plunging deeper into the abyss of student debt Walking in a dark tunnel and at the end a light Such miracle he realizes his dreams in sight The dream to give his family, posterity, and himself a better future Held together so tight like a surgical suture Determination in his face trying to achieve his dream by any means But when it’s all sewed together it isn’t what it seems
Hispanics overcoming challenges by: Tejas Kar Many people from all over the world have overcome many challenges. For example, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandala, Abraham Lincoln and minor people like Rosa Parks. Many other people, like Hispanics have also overcome a wide varied of challenges.
The Hispanic Student Association, or HSA for short, was founded in 1999 by Nestor "Ito" Rodriguez the former president of HSA. Who is now currently the head of the Hispanic alumni council and married to Jaclyn Rodriguez. The organization is located on the main campus in the university center (UC) through the involvement zone in room 221. The purpose of HSA is to spread and demonstrate to other students the marvels of the Hispanic culture and to enrich their minds of the cultural diversity that is around them. To accomplish this HSA does many social events and gatherings, such as the St. Jude walk/run and Hispanic heritage month, which allows students of any background to come and enjoy the Hispanic culture in a safe and discrimination free
In my opinion, in order to understand how socioeconomic status of Hispanics affects the quality of health care, more research still needs to be conducted. This research should be a collaboration between Hispanic communities and researchers, which would build trust and potentially increase sample sizes. Future studies should also take into consideration the cultural variety of Hispanic population. For example, current federal standards require federal agencies use Hispanic or Latino term. Hispanics are identified by Spanish surname, Spanish origin, Spanish language and birthplace in a Latin American country.
One of my biggest supporters are my parents. Their support and conviction about the worth of acquiring an education has shaped my beliefs, values and ambition to continue higher education and use my career in a progressive way to give back to my community. Unfortunately, not everyone had the same support system like I did. Many of my peers struggled whether to continue their education or financially support their family. This is a very dangerous reality within the Latino community that needs to be addressed and resolved immediately.
Though education is held in high importance among all ethnic groups, Hispanics are the least educated (Schhneider et al., 2006). There can be some disadvantages that can make education difficult for the Hispanic population. These disadvantages are frequently caused by Hispanic parents' socioeconomic status, immigration status, and ignorance of the American educational system (Schhneider et al., 2006). In fact, about 72 percent of Hispanics graduate with a high school diploma; furthermore, about 19 percent pursue and complete higher education (Profile: Hispanic/Latino Americans 2023). Education can be linked to a variety of social and health issues as well.
Section 3: Research Question, Hypotheses, and Alpha level Research Question: Is there a relationship between the performance at the GPA and the final? Null Hypothesis: There is no difference between the GPA performance and the final. On the Asymptomatic significance test, the significance level is 0.05. This shows that Latino males are falling behind on the scale in attending higher education compared to other ethnic groups. Even though the number of Latinos in general that are attending college is constant and rising, the presence of Latino males compared to females is still very low. To make it even worse, Latino males have the lowest enrollment and completion rates of any subgroup. Latina females are on the rise in higher education while Latino males are having trouble to stay on the map. This confuses me because how could it be that Latinos in general are growing in population at universities yet the presence of Latino males is quite low.
Socioeconomic obstacles impede the academic achievement of students. “Hispanics have poverty rates that are two to nearly three times higher than whites; and 40 percent of their population is foreign born” (“Hispanics: Special Education and English Language Learners”). Living in poverty affects educational attainment. There is a gap in the educational outcomes because of socioeconomic status (SES). Moreover, the American Psychological Association (APA) states, “large gaps remain when minority education attainment is compared to that of Caucasian Americans”.
This affects the opportunity of Hispanics attendance to college contributing to the low rate of Hispanics college degree graduates. A college degree education plays a key role in how much income one will and can bring in. For example, a study conducted at Rockhurst University in Kansas City found that “being at a disadvantage in the world of academics is shown in the types of jobs that these minorities have. In 2000, blacks and Hispanics were almost twice as likely as whites to work in the service sector, such as food service or cleaning service, with compensation at $12 per hour” (Restituto and Miller). Hispanics with no college degrees in Kansas are in academic disadvantage as found by the Rockhurst University in Kansas City since the opportunity to attain a college degree depends on the personal income.
On September 2015, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, marked its 25th anniversary. With the shift of the nation’s demographics, higher education is concerned with the academic success of Latinos. Not only is the federal government addressing issues of access and equity for underserved minorities’ populations, but higher education is playing a crucial role in reducing the academic achievement gaps for Latinos. Why is this important? Latinos constitute one of the fastest-growing populations in the United States.
1.2 What are the typical impacts of these on children and young people? Majority of the disable people may lead to experience the adulthood transition differently towards the non-disabled peers. It is true that with possible restriction imposed on their routine schedule; especially the ones that are disabled in childhood might be more insulated from peer effects and less towards getting engage in risky actions (Kirk, 2008).
4.1 SEX-Dose sex differ will have influence on student’s score? From the histogram graphs above, we can confirm that mean in four subjects are trend to normally distributed. To test whether the mean for reading, writing, math and science is the same for males and females, an independent samples t-test tool is suitable because it can compare the means of a normally distributed interval dependent variable for two independent groups. H0: Females have no significant difference and high mean score than males in reading score H1:
The other being how perceptions of other races change after having or not having an interracial room during the first year of college. The study was a natural field experiment. Whereas in a lab, conducting field research allowed to follow long term interactions. There was no need for manipulation and random assignment was guaranteed by how the school assigned housing to freshmen, which served as the independent variable.
