Deborah ellis's diego run shows various idea such as “not giving into peer pressure and “don't take risky offers”, standing out from the rest however is “think before you act and although it may seem unreliable, insignificant and generally overlooked, deborah proves all suspicions wrong. She shows these ideas through a prison/poverty of 3rd world countries to portray her ideas, coupled along with language features like foreign words, a third person retrospect and descriptive phrases. this novel showed me a third world countries point of view , something that i had never thought of before and taught me the very important idea of “ think before you act” In this true to life adventure story Diego starts the book with disappointment, showing …show more content…
think before you act too me is isn't to keep thing without acting but to stop and think about the consequences of your decision and then decide to follow through with any adjustments, i feel it is so important because it eliminates the irreversible mistakes and without it i personally, would be in a lot of trouble with only my bad choices to blame. in todays society it isn't seem as much as it should be but there’s no argue that everyone think’s before they act from time to time although with more of it they would be less fighting, less troubles and a lot less mistakes. an example of thinking before you act would be robbing a bank, it seems good at first but the consequences afterward outway the immediate positives by a long way, similar to drugs it would be a very regrettable decision. all up think before you act is used, since it is a common sense but still not enough, todays society is covered with things that would make your mistake regrettable so it stops the chaos there would be without it. deborah shows how think before you act should not be overlooked. This novel was expersiong it ideas by generally showing what not to do along with the mistake that you could make because of …show more content…
Mando complements diego completely, adding in the factors that diego is missing, with his more adventurous / risk taking personality, he becomes the catalysts to the second, more adventures half of the story. mando let’s diego show his confidence by developing the story into a position where it’s appropriate to show it. the effect this has is to give the novel an adventurous feel instead of deigo staying in the prison the whole novel. Personally i thought the author did a great job of making diego into a cool and likable character. His growth throughout the novel was very noticeable. diegos confidence and morals grow along with him making him and character to look up to and learn from and although his relationships stop by the end of the book they carry him through his immense development, and helped portray the idea think before you act. The title of this short essay is “ In Praise of the Threat”, and the author is Rebecca Solnit. Haymarket Books published this short essay in 2014. The main point that Solnit was making throughout the reading was that we should all have the same rights no matter what. She goes on to say that same sex marriages don’t get the same equality and normal one man and one woman get. Solnit also explains how women had not rights and basically when women got married their husbands where the ones who told them what to do.
Sojourner Truth: Unique Freedom Fighter Sojourner Truth, the famous freedom fighter, was quoted to say, “If women want any rights more than they’s got, why don’t they just take them, and not be talking about it” (BrainyQuite.com). This was seen as one of her most important historical quotes which depicts her views about women’s rights, no matter the color of a person’s skin. Many people might ask why was Sojourner Truth a famous historical figure? She lived through so much and one of the main things people might know about her is that she tried to advocate for women's rights, no matter what race they were she believed all women should have rights.

Rebecca: The Mind Obsession Can Help or Haunt The human’s mind is one of the most interesting topics in the world. How does it work? Many ask this question, but the answer is still unknown.
In our daily lives, we as modern individuals can be seen drifting through each day, determined to make it past the dreaded 24 hours of school, work, or anything within our daily lives. And as omniscient threats linger in the back, law enforcement brutality, political injustices, world war tensions, and large business corporations growth, we simply ignore them. Why? Because we are so determined to reach the end of each minute of the day, worrying about our appearances, our relationships status, and whether or not we will fail our next midterm. And as all those “small things” become background noise to our own selfish worries, they continue to collide and create deeper friction, allowing enough potential for a catastrophe, something that we
It is hard to tell what is true and not true in a novel, especially when the author says, “Often the crazy stuff is true and the normal stuff isn't, because the normal stuff is necessary to make you believe the truly incredible craziness” (68). The character Mary Anne Bell was too crazy for this novel though. The most unrealistic characters in The Things They Carried is Mary Anne Bell because she went to the war as a civilian not a soldier, embodies the theme loss of innocence, and there are other character that feel the same loss. There are many events that take place that makes Mary Anne an implausible character. The whole reason that she comes to Vietnam is that she is visiting her boyfriend, and not even the other soldiers believe Rat
“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Anne grew up in one of the most harrowing times in history. Anne Frank was an inspiring human being. Anne has delivered multiple quotes, these quotes could be titled as brave, whimsical, or indifferent. Nevertheless, by far these are some of the most inspiring words that I have ever heard.
Have you ever been scared? A type of fear that is life threatening? This is the type of fear many soldiers felt in the Vietnam war. Including the squad members that were in Tim O'Brien's novel ¨ The Things They Carried.¨ The theme of Tim O'Brien's book is that soldiers are stuck with the fear of not only dying but of being seen as weak by Family, friends and fellow squad members. The members of the team often noticed that the war wasn't always physical but a mental war in a lot of different ways.
“RUTH (sincerely, but also self-righteously): Now that's your money. It ain't got nothing to do with me. We all feel like that— Walter and Bennie and me—even Travis. MAMA (thoughtfully, and suddenly very far away): Ten thousand dollars — RUTH: Sure is wonderful. MAMA: Ten thousand dollars.
Everyone knows that suspense is a fundamental part of a storyline. It makes the reader keep on reading by filling them with anxious anticipation of what will happen next. In And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, the ten main characters go through a time of immense stress. Rebecca Nurse and I “A child’s spirit is like a child, you can never catch it by running after it; you must stand still, and, for love, it will soon itself come back.” This is a quote said by Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible, this is said when Ann Putnam asks Rebecca to go check on Ruth to wake her up. Rebecca Nurse is an honest and caring woman in The Crucible that has eleven children and twenty six grandchildren. She was eventually accused of murdering Ann Putnam’s seven babies. Rebecca Nurse
From the beginning, he guides the protagonist through a midlife crisis that is almost sure to go wrong. He is a wealthy man, lost in a suspicious part of town in an expensive car. This has trouble written all over it. People in these areas are desperate for money, and robbing a rich man in his Mercedes-Benz would be a more than possible event that could ensue. Most fatal of all however, and most ironic of all, is that “[he is so] intent upon the future that…
