The defender personality is described as a personality that has excellent analytical abilities, good people skills, good social relationships, generally a conservative type of person, and respective to change and ideas. The defender personality is also described as a perfectionist and can be relied on to get the job done on time. Defender personalities also go above and beyond to exceed expectations at work and also at home. Another component of the defender personality is that they often underplay their accomplishments and they must make sure that they are not being taking advantage of and make sure they know how to say no. This trait is import while coaching because if you want things to be done the right way you must be patient and you must be reliable for the other coaches and players that you are working with. Being reliable and patient allows you to make sure things are done to the highest of standards and in coaching that is very important. For coaches that are perfectionist like myself this is a very important because to get things perfect you must be patient with players and coaches. This personality trait is one of my better attributes as a coach because I am very patient with the players I coach because if you want a response from your player you must show them that you are willing to spend the time with them to make them better. Along with that, reliability is another one of my better qualities as a coach because it is important in coaching that you have the trust of your assistants and your players. Coaches also have to understand the differences between their players because some players will learn much faster than other and you have to find a way to balance between coaching the fast learners and the ones that do not learn as …show more content…
The qualities presented in the results are all very good and all have one thing or another that translate to being a good football coach. It takes many great qualities to become a great football coach and this personality type hold a lot of those qualities. The most important trait that a football coach can hold is knowing how to make connections with their players and know how to coach the heart of the player (Fore). The connections a coach make will always be the most important thing at the end of the day, if a coach can connect with his players the success can be endless. These players must buy into a program in order to be successful and if we as coaches let them know we value them they will buy in. Defenders are also hard workers, which is a very important quality to me. This past year coaching football at Oak Hill High School has taught me that if a team and a staff work hard together something very special can happen in a short amount of time. Both the players and the staff worked diligently to have success on and off the field. When the season concluded we had won a conference championship and appeared in the Ohio High School playoffs. At the end of the season the head coach talked about how both the players and staff worked very hard to make this happen. Defenders also often go above and beyond when given a task and this is also a very important quality for me as a coach because football is a game of

This reveals to his son that athletic skills and being a strong athlete are not the only way to make an impact on the team. The author also desires his son to realize the skills that football can teach him such as how to be a leader, work as a team, and most notably to discover that he can only control certain aspects of life instead of solely playing football for the purpose of enjoying the game. All of the personal experiences and wisdom are given to Ted in order to justify how lucky he is to even be playing a collegiate sport and that he should be grateful for the skills that the game is teaching
High school coaches should not be required to give equal playing time to all players who make the team. Kids in society have been handed things their entire life. There has been little to no sense of accomplishment after earning a spot or position on a team. Spots should be earned by being the best at what someone does, not for pitty and for moral victories to make them feel good. “In high school, kids should understand playing time is earned.
In “Do Sports Build Character or Damage it?” Mark Edmundson explains the pros and cons of children who grow up playing football. Firstly, he believes the perseverance it takes to show up for hard practices is useful later in life. Especially when they get frustrated with something and don’t notice the little bits of progress they are making.
Week one: Reflection Paper Assignment The personality type that was indicated from my completion of the MBTI puzzle is introvert, sensing, feeling, and judging (ISFJ). I would say what surprised me the most about these results were the personality tendencies of sensing and introvert. The personality tendency of sensing says I am practical and cost effective. I do not feel like I am practical when it comes to money

Character is defined in the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language as “Moral or Ethical Strength; Integrity; fortitude. Galanter has the perfect balance to being a good coach, and by going out of his way to help Reuven, goes from good to an outstanding coach. The three most important traits for a good coach to have are compassion, support, and a competitive personality. Each of these three traits benefits the coach and the team in different ways. With compassion, the students can relate to the coach and the students can have comfort in the knowledge that their coach will always be there with kindness for them. Support strengthens the team and lets the team know that the coach will always cheer them on.
Being tough helps with that because the players must respect the coaches. Lewis Lustik had trouble with school, which is shown multiple times in the movie. Coach Boone tell Lewis that he can make it to college and that he wants to see his grades, so he can guide him to success off the football field. That is one of the few times coach Boone reveals a soft side towards the players. That also shows viewers that some coaches do care about student’s success off the
To be a coach you need a certain set of skills. For example a coach needs to have good people skills. A coach has to talk to his team and other people from around the area who want to meet him and talk to him. Another Thing a Coach needs to be arrogant to an extent he needs to be very confident in his ability’s to lead his team to a winning season and he needs to be confident in players that they can execute what he has taught them to do so they can get a win every week. Coaches should examine their experiences, by looking for meaning when asking ‘why’ questions (Denison, 2007). This experience allowed me to develop and see the importance of having interpersonal skills which deals with things, such as, providing a safe environment for the client, treating the client as an equal in the coaching process, allowing them to pick their own tempo for accomplishment of desired goals, during sessions remain neutral, and use positive thought, words and action during the relationship (Mitchell, J., July 27,
Personality is defined as the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual 's unique character. Personality theory is the approaches to understanding the “What”, “How” and “When” of characteristics and features that make up an individual 's personality. An insight into personality is important to understand the function of a person’s mind. By doing this you would be able to understand and observe your own psyche from an outside perspective, interact with others better and understand why they do what they do or predict how someone may react to something.
