Definition Essay: What Is A Hero?

What is a hero? The definition of hero is; “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” Many people have different definitions of a hero, some people see them as that one person who you never see, who hides in the shadows and you would never think of them as a hero. However, he/she could be someone who is always out there looking to protect someone. Most people put heroes in categories such as; rich, famous, caring, and selfless and most of all, brave. A hero comes in many shapes, form, and sizes.

What makes someone a hero? Picking someone’s pencil off the ground they dropped doesn’t make you a hero… it takes a special person to be a hero. When we think about the word hero we think, police officer, firefighter, but in reality it could be anyone. For example, a young girl decides to put her baby up for adoption, a mother without child decides to adopt this baby. The Mother is a hero for adopting this baby. People do not realize exactly what a hero is, look around they are everywhere. One day I was in the grocery store, this woman and her five children were buying groceries, when she got to the checkout line she started putting the groceries up there. He gave the African Americans hope that there was a better life out there than just being abused and treated like animals all their lives. He also gave children a better future by becoming more educated in schools. I know that today there are many different things going on in society that if one wants to make a difference one can start by simply standing up to whatever situation one may be uncomfortable with. One does not need the title “hero” to know that they are a hero. Make a difference in someone’s life today and change the
