The values I was taught during my up-bring, helped shape my personality, these values; devotion in relationships and giving back, are what I will be able to bring to the Delta Sigma Pi community as a member. One of the first things I recall my parents teaching me was the importance of relationships. I was taught and now I believe, that it is highly important to be devoted in all relationships I have. My believe to consider relationships more than a transactional process, and my ability to develop personal connections will enable me to contribute to the brotherhood of Delta Sigma Pi. Another value that I hold on to is giving back. I am fortunate enough to have access to resources that have helped me develop as a person and carve a path for myself. However, with this support and availability of resources comes the responsibility to extend those opportunities to others, who don’t have the same resources available. This believe lead me to be highly active with a non-profit program back home in Pakistan. The purpose of the program was to educate the youth of Pakistan. With the help of my fellow classmates, I conducted weekly evening school for the children living on the streets, or belonging to low socio-economics backgrounds. I am aware that Delta Sigma Pi is also highly active in giving back to the community, be it tirelessly dancing for 36 hours to raise awareness and funds for kids at the Riley Hospital or organizing an annual gala to raise funds for the American Cancer Research Society. My passion for giving back to the community could be beneficial in increasing the impact of Delta Sigma Pi’s philanthropic endeavors. …show more content…

One of my major values is the pursuit of knowledge. Being finance major, is one way I am doing this. The pursuit of seeking knowledge in the field is one example of your actions that illustrate your
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
I had the grand honor of being born into a culturally diverse family. Although Dominican culture dominates our customs, we are 25% Middle Eastern from Lebanon, and 25% Spanish from Barcelona, Spain. The cultures have all laced into each other in such a way that I find it utterly ordinary to eat Arabic food while listening to Dominican music while serving Spanish desserts. My parents came to America at around the age that I am now, met each other, and my mom had my first sister at 18 while my father was 22. My mom went back to high school to finish her GED while my father enrolled in an institution that he never got around to finishing because his english was not well.
As a daughter, sister, grad student and full-time employee, I have incorporated these values into my life and honored
By active community service, leadership roles, and hard work, I have learned the incredible importance of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. Through these things, I have been substantially prepared by the Beta Club to serve others as I depart high school and
Perseverance. Leadership. Service. Scholarship. Words I strive to live by everyday.
One value I strongly believe in, that hardly exists any more, is appreciation. For example, law enforcement personnel seem to have targets on their backs. Yes there are some bad cops, but why treat every cop like a bad cop with no reason behind it other than the
To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.
I would be extremely honored to be granted the opportunity of being a part of such an amazing sisterhood. My personal values line up with those of which Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. stand for. I strongly believe that public service throughout communities will result in a positive change throughout the world. Likewise, educational development is extremely important to me because the access to education in all levels enlightens individuals and allows them to achieve their goals and amplify their accomplishments. Additionally, I believe Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will help me grow more into the person I want to become, because I venerate all the qualities of a Delta women.
Not only do these clubs recognize academic excellence, they also provide many opportunities for community service. Blood drives, food drives and Operation Christmas Child are only a few of the projects that we participate in throughout the year. I am
The S.A.D.D chapter attracted over seventy students to the club, and they helped me organize several events within the school, such as
The third value says “I will respect the rights and well-being of others.” I will make sure that I am not putting others in my community in danger and that I will respect others opinions no matter what they believe in. The fourth value says, “I will engage myself in the artistic, cultural and academic life of my University.” I will engage in the community as much as possible. I will make new friends and explore new activities in the community.
I have an altruistic component to my character which includes coaching elementary children, tutoring others, and volunteering at school, blood drives and with the community. I am the president of my high school’s Math Club, which entails numerous hours of organizing and volunteering. Through careful planning, I am able to bring in a wide variety of students, all of whom carry distinct characteristics. It is because of Math Club they have been brought out of their comfort zones and have built new connections with students they have never spoken to before. Math Club provides tutoring services as well.
Throughout my time in the honors program at ISU, I have been able to be a part of unique classes and projects. One of the classes that supported my education and curiosity outside of my degree was the honors exploration titled “In Pursuit of a Better World: The Promise and Challenge of American Philanthropy.” This experience provided a unique insight into philanthropy through providing an overview of its history, philanthropy today, and philanthropy at ISU. Understanding the effect of philanthropy in education such as at ISU expanded my understanding of what ISU is as an organization and educational facility.
