The Moon's origin is undecided due to many conflicting variables that we have discovered over the last half century. This includes a better understanding of planetary physics and the geological stages that are needed for a planet or moon to form. During Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin placed a large mirror on the surface. The Lunar Laser Ranging experiment involved sending a laser to the mirror and timing how long it took to receive a laser signal back. Using this time scientists could then calculate exactly how far away the moon was from the earth. Not only this, but if collected repeatedly over time, we would then be able to learn whether the moon was getting closer or farther from the earth over time. This would …show more content…
Ernst J. Opik proposed that a high velocity object could have passed Earth's lower atmosphere, breaking apart. At Roche's limit, 18,500 kilometers above the center of the earth, objects are torn apart due to a planets gravitational pull. Opik proposes that some of an object may have been pulled apart a collected around the Earth. The resulting Earth and external debris would then assimilate and orbit the Earth as a moon. This supported the data proving the moon came from earth as well as another primordial object. Ernst Opik named it Disintegrative Capture. The now named "Disintegrative Capture Theory” still held some of the astrophysics problems found with its precedent. An object moving at the velocity to reach Roche’s limit without being taken to its surface is too fast for said object of its mass to also be captured into orbit. Theories like this one aren't immediately pulled from the shelves of speculation, but are instead reserved for the future. Even today our understanding of interplanetary physics is far from exact. Without computer simulations accounting for every variable like cosmic drift, it is a challenge to predict exactly how the moon was
Another assumption could be that we did not go to the moon because there is no physical evidence and the tapes were “erased”; therefore, we must have never landed on the moon. If there’s no moisture on the moon, then how come you
This text is very effective in achieving its purpose because it will make people think twice about the accomplishment of the moon landing when there are already so many problems that should be dealt
citizens have many theories that America did not land on the moon. These citizens have plenty of pieces of evidence to back this claim up. Theorists assume that the United States did not have the technology advanced enough to land on the moon. “It began as “a hunch, an intuition”, before turning into “a true conviction” – that the US lacked the technical prowess to make it to the moon (or, at least, to the moon and back)” (Godwin).
Everyone in elementary school learns about the moon and knows that Neil Armstrong, in 1969, was the first man to lay foot on the moon. But what if he wasn’t the first person; what if no one ever landed on the moon and the landings were all a big scam? Many people believe this theory for many reasons. For starters, in the pictures and recordings it shows the American flag is flapping as if there’s wind, but in a vacuum, there physically can’t be any wind. Scientists oppose this idea by saying that it is, in fact possible, and add on by stating that the astronaut who was holding the flag was moving it.
Archimedes stated that if this theory was true that the universe would be vastly larger than what they thought it was (he stated this because if the Earth had motion then it would have a parallax or annual shift). Aristarchus only survival work was the sizes and distances of the sun and the moon. He also had three premises, this were that the Earth’s diameter is twice the diameter of the moon; the sun and the moon are each two degrees in an angular diameter and that in a quarter moon the distance of the sun and the moon is of 87
Between 1969 and 1972 America sent 6 manned space missions to land on the moon, only one made it or did it the apollo 11 space graph supposebly made it up to the moon. Lots of people think it was faked and others think it was real. This is something that we all want to know did they actually make it up to the moon or did they just lie to show they had power and they were the best countrie. Me and my classmates did a scientific debate on weather not it was true or fake. Now i’m writing a paper on what I think it is.
During the Middle Ages a Roman Astronomer named Ptolemy came up with the theory that all surrounding planets orbited around the Earth. Advancement in telescopes and technology helped Copernicus during the renaissance create a more logical and accurate theory which stated how the sun is in the middle of our universe and all planets orbited the sun. This changed the way man thought because it realized how small Earth is compared to the rest of the solar system and how we may not be
On July 20th, 1969, the Apollo 11 with astronaut Neil Armstrong and his crew, guided by thousands of NASA technicians, supposedly landed on the surface of the moon. It was certainly one of the most extraordinary events accomplished by mankind up to that date. Neil Armstrong’s first words upon stepping on the moon surface will always be remembered “ A small step for mankind, a giant leap for humanity”. Ever since then, this achievement has been a matter of discussion by several groups that either believed or disbelieved this.
On July 20, 1969, astronaut Neil Armstrong walked on the moon: or perhaps not. That is what some people think. They believe the "Moon Landings" were faked, in order to cheat the public out of billions of dollars and so that we could win the space race against the Soviet Union. According to conspiracy theorists, the scientists at N.A.S.A. realized during the Apollo missions that either is was technically impossible to reach the Moon ir that it cost too much. So, the government built a secret movie studio somewhere in the southwest and used special effects to pretend that the astronauts had landed on the Moon.
The crew spent 33 and a half hours on the moon. And many scientific experiments were made like Shepard brining golf balls up and a makeshift club he made back home they also conducted the “Moon Trees” experiment. In which Shepard and Mitchell brought up several hundred seeds for trees and went to the future Apollo 16 landing spot while Roosa stayed in orbit. Orbiting the Kitty Hawk space module and taking pictures of the moon. The two attempted to grow trees on the moon and many of the trees germinated on the way home which deemed this experiment successful.
Theorists claim there are no stars, therefore the pictures were taken in a studio. Fortunately Dr Hendry has evidence to prove this theory wrong. He says that the bright light of the Sun reflects off the surface of the Moon and drowns out the stars in the background of the photos (Scots scientists). Both theories being proven wrong there is one left. Theorists also claim that the shadows were not parallel with the astronauts.
The moon: a ball of rock orbiting earth. Although the moon has been thoroughly researched, countless mysteries still remain. In addition to theories about the moon 's composition and interior structure, the most important question remains unanswered: "Where did the moon come from?" In an attempt to better understand the origin of the moon, the Capture Theory, Fission Theory, Impact Theory, and, the most logical, Sister Theory, have been discussed. A video of the moon landing, in addition to further geological evidence, has been collected and used as challenging points towards questioning its originality.
The space rocket landed on apennines, July 30, 1971. The time they spent on the moon 295 hr. 11 min. 53 sec. and the time they were on Lunar surface was 66 hr 54 min 53 min.
Others recognized patterns in the ways the objects moved. Thus, astronomy was born. Around 600 B.C. it was accepted that the Earth was not a flat object through the insight of Greek philosophers from looking at the round shadow that the Earth cast on the Moon during lunar eclipses and how the stars seemed to move as one approaches the North Pole. (Larsen, 37). Eudoxus was philosopher known for the idea of a geocentric
When Neil Armstrong first touched down on the moon in 1969, millions of people watched him take the first step and create history (Villard). Yet even as we’ve moved on from the moon landings and consider them as a pivotal point for mankind, “Forty years after U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon, many conspiracy theorists still insist the Apollo 11 moon landing was an elaborate hoax”(Than). The idea that our voyage to the moon was deliberately staged seems to resurface year after year. While the conspiracy theorists claim the moon landing was a hoax, creating a fake moon landing would have been more expensive and difficult than actually reaching the moon. The race to the moon began on October 5, 1957, when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik into orbit around the earth: “When the Soviet Union launched the satellite Sputnik, on October 4, 1957, the United States experienced a technological identity crisis”(Olson).
