There is nothing better than eating buttery popcorn or eating a juicy hamburger along with a cold, refreshing coke. The sweet beverage and its carbonation can become addicting. Most sodas also contain amounts of caffeine, which can cause other addictive properties. Soda is also cheaper from a vending machine or a fast food joint than buying a water bottle. It seems like a habit to get a coke when a person goes out to eat, or goes through a fast food drive thru, or goes to the movies. People are always so willing to frequently drink soda, but they never actually think about how unhealthy the effects of drinking these sugary beverages have on their body. Soda contains very high levels of sugar and calories. One coke contains 17 teaspoons of sugar and 240 empty calories that lack any nutritional value. According to “Food Revolution”, it would take the average adult over one hour of walking to burn off the 240 calories in a 20-ounce soda.
