In El Salvador during the 1970’s the campesinos, the indigent class, were treated as second class citizens by the military and elite classes. To find salivation these people flocked to the Catholic Church for wisdom, love, and protection. To comfort their parish the priests of El Salvador often preached to the people that God wanted them to endure suffering for an eternal reward. However, after continuous violence by the military, priests such as Fr. Rutilio grande and others began to preach a new aspect based on the book of Exodus (3-14). This new teaching was about the Israelites freedom from the bonds of slavery to a new life with a future in a Promised Land. The priests started teaching the events of the exodus, because it was very similar …show more content…
In the Exodus event and the events of El Salvador there was a leading authority that governed each region. In both Egypt and El Salvador the governmental authority was corrupt. In the Exodus event, the Pharaoh controlled the entire government, the region, and all of the people. The Pharaoh and other leading authorities were responsible for enslaving their people and leaving them impoverished. This Egyptian government only worked for their own benefit and tortured or killed anyone who challenged them. Similarly, in El Salvador, the military dictated by General Humberto, controlled all civilians and was responsible for the oppression of its people. The military killed the campesinos and anyone who fought for justice. For example, the military was responsible for killing and torturing many priests in El Salvador such as Fr. Alfonzo Osuña. Both the governments of Egypt and El Salvador were corrupt and responsible for the persecution of their people. Furthermore, both these leading authorities favored the elite class and thought of the impoverished people as abhorrent. These governments were selfish and greedy, and refused to let their people live peacefully. Although the Israelites and campesinos were oppressed and battered they both found help from one person in their region. In the Exodus event the Israelites followed and listened to Moses. Moses guided the people and helped them from their strife. Moses originally supported the government and the Pharaoh of Egypt. He grew up as a son of the Pharaoh and therefore believed in the corrupt government of Egypt. However, he eventually embarked on a path of God and learned what was moral and right. As a result, he left his position in Egypt and fought to protect the enslave Israelite’s. Moses eventually freed these people and guided them along a path to the promise land. The Exodus event with Moses is very
Eventually, the Old Kingdom fell apart and Egypt went into a time of disorder. A new dynasty unified Egypt and started the Middle Kingdom. The boundaries and jobs of nomes were established. Pharaohs were described as “shepherds of the people” instead of being like a
The leaders that were elected for the communities were “strong, respected, influential member of the African American Community” (Norton). The leaders were not only respected by the black community, but they were respected by the white community alike. The black governors dealt out punishments and upheld laws, as well as acted as a mediator between the black communities and the white communities. Though most of those elected were still enslaved, it gave them an opportunity to speak their voice and opinions within the community, which benefited Moses greatly, as he is referred to as a “King” throughout articles. This however, was not a very common option in the times of slavery, according to “Beecher’s Autobiography.”
In ancient times the pharaoh was seen as the king and the religious leader. The pharaoh was the high priest of every temple in egypt. As the most revered person in all of egypt the pharaoh started to take the mantle of a god and was the mediator between the people and the gods. This allowed the pharaoh to be revered and respected by his people as they were a manifestation of a god on earth. This allowed them to do very little wrong in the eyes of the everyone.
He was the 7th child of 13 children. His dad Moses also known as “Cap” he owned 80-acres of farmland. His dad used his farmland to grow many foods like corn, cotton, and many other foods. We believe that he is responsible for the Nile’s flow, sun rise, etc. Famous pharaohs are Tutankhamun and Cleopatra. This government system is better than others because it easier to obtain control, laws or orders are applied more quickly, and social reform can be created more efficiently. This book explores the relational forces of the Latino migrant movement and the homeland security state. From 2001-2012, the intensification of deportations towards the Latino community increased from 180,000 to 400,000+ deportations. Although the book frames this period as a time of great state repression and violence, it has been categorized as a time of great resistance, organization, and mobilization and analyzes the 2006 Mega Marches. The author takes a Gramscian approach to illustrate how the struggle for immigrant politics occurs at both the state level and that of civil society. Gonzales expands on the role of immigrant right activists and the ways they have framed their rights claims.
The Pharaoh ruled over Egypt as a king and a god. They believed that Egypt belonged to the gods since the king was also a god he has absolute power over Egypt and its people. Since he was a god he was blamed if the crops did not grow, if a disease came around, and had to prevent wars. The nobles contained government officials and priests that help run the government and temples. The high priests oversaw all religious

The reasons are because Hebrews were treated unfairly; Moses cared for us; and Moses had the power from God. To begin, I would follow Moses out of Egypt because Hebrews were treated unfairly. For instance, in the Should I Stay or Should I Go Document it says that the Egyptians enslaved
There are few leaders that can be compared to Moses. He has been ranked by some secular historians as the greatest man in all of history, and it is a notable fact that one seventh of the Old Testament is devoted to the life and ministry of Moses. For one man to lead what scholars believe to be approximately 2.4 million people out of Egyptian bondage, train and equip them for battle, minister to their needs, and suffer through their complaints and idolatry is beyond imagination. Moses’ name means “drawn out” and we can see that he was definitely “drawn out” by God for this unthinkable task. It is evident that Moses was not leading in his own strength and wisdom but rather the supernatural strength and wisdom of God.
Moses is considered one of the greatest prophets of Israelites and Judaism. Moses led Hebrews out of Egypt to the Promised Land although he never reached Canaan. Meanwhile, during the exodus of Hebrews Moses acted as both a leader and a law-giver. Moses enacted some miracles on behalf of the Lord to flee Israelites from the Egyptian bondage. Thus, he provided the people with leadership in the quest for their freedom from Egyptians.
Firstly, the Hebrews are quick to turn away from the promise of God and the leadership of Moses when difficulties come. This is a pattern which is continued throughout the Israelites’ time in the wilderness, where time and time again, the people complain to Moses when things get tough and repeatedly disobey God’s commands to them. The ancient Israelites knew God as the powerful creator and therefore they should have humbled themselves before God and cried out all the more for deliverance. However, instead, they turned against Moses and Aaron – the instruments of their
"All of the Israelites were slaves to the horrid Pharaoh of Egypt. Everyone, even the children, worked all day and into the night, building the Pharaoh 's city. "One day I saw Moses walking proudly to Pharaoh 's palace," said Shaul. "I was so curious I immediately dropped my work and crept away. I wanted to hear what this brave man had to say.
As part of God’s plan to save and train Moses, God allowed Moses to be raised and trained for 40 years in Pharaoh's court. This would also mean that Moses had the opportunity to be exposed to Egyptian learning and the administration of Pharaoh’s court (Acts 7:22). All these would be God’s preparation of Moses for a future task of leading Israel (Cole 1973:59). At the age of forty, Moses killed an Egyptian in his attempt to protect his fellow Hebrews. For his crime, he fled into the wilderness to escape from Pharaoh.
