The study that I found was focused on elephant fossils that were discovered in Africa in the mid 1980’s. According to the source that I found, the motivation that led to the discovery and experimentation of elephant fossils was the drive that scientists and geologists had to determine the nature of ancient environments in the region of Zimbabwe. Throughout the study, scientists were finding causes of death of ancient elephants.
