American poetess : Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson is known for her unique and unconventional style of writing. Even though she lived in The Civil War and The First World War, she usually wrote about love, family, death and nature. Her writing was very similar to C.C.Rossetti in same century. In the nineteenth century, her poetry didn’t get recognition from people, because her poem’s rhythm and grammar were too preposterous. But in the twentieth century, imagism and metaphysical poem’s became famous, so her poem began to be popular. Emily Dickinson is very isolated poet, because she lived alone, and she didn’t go out often. She also usually stayed in home and spent most of her time writing and sending poems to friends.

Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her full name was Emily Elizabeth Dickinson. Her father is Edward Dickinson, mother is Emily Norcross Dickinson, brother is William Austin Dickinson, and her sister is Lavinia Norcross Dickinson. In 1855, she was particularly stirred by the Reverend Charles Wadsworth, whom when first met on a trip to Philadelphia. She called him “my closest earthly friend.” Some critics believe his departure gave rise to the heartsick flow of verse from Dickinson in the years that followed. After by the 1860, Emily Dickinson was almost isolated from the outside world, but she actively maintained many correspondences and read widely. The people whom comes to see Dickinson were the people who were strongly impressed in her poetry. She also spent her time with her family. Dickinson’s poem was more likely to the Metaphysical poets of seventeenth century England instead of the Romantic poets of nineteenth century. Her poetry is also influenced by the Puritanism.
