Every adversity or change is a positive vicissitude in life, As said by Chip Curley, “Resilience can refer to positive adjustment in the face of adversity. Resilience has also been defined as the individuals cope successfully with significant change, adversity or risk”. All of us are guilty of a crime against change in our life. When we are at our lowest point we don’t think of how our downs are a pathway to our highs. As said by Chip Curley we think that change is bad and forget about why change is happening and how it can be positive for us. She learned independence by learning to teach herself to work, caring for her sick mother, and being courageous and standing up for other people. Esperanza has faced adversity and adversity has changed her character and personality with Independence, Empathetic/Caring, and Brave/Courageousness.
When people go through adversity they start becoming more independent as they learn throughout the journey of adversity they learn that they can’t continue to be dependent on other people. This will now result in people who went through adversity that you can’t be dependent on other people to depend on your problem. Henceforth, In Esperanza Rising, we see throughout the story where Esperanza becomes more independent. Esperanza's mother had valley fever, a disease where dust enters your lungs. When her mother was admitted to the hospital, Esperanza told her mother, “Don’t worry, Mama. Remember, I will take care of everything. I am working and I can pay the bills. I love you”, (Muñoz Ryan, 184). Esperanza wanted to feel responsible for her mother. Which shows signs of independence, She wanted to feel like her mother was dependent on her showing signs of how she became more independent as the

They can stand up for what is right because they know what they are going through. Being the person that people can run to is another way of standing up for them. As a matter of fact. Esperanza comforts Isabel when she does not win the Queen of May. “Isabel, it doesn't matter who won. Yes, you would have made a beauty queen but it would not last” (Munoz Ryan, 227). Esperanza was brave enough to tell Isabel that being the queen of may did not matter and it would not last long. Additionally, Esperanza's mother was admitted to the hospital and Esperanza was devastated to hear the news that her mother was helpless and sick in a hospital. Esperanza is feeling so much pain in the back, in her mind, she might think her mother might die. “Don’t worry, I will take care of everything. I am working and I can pay the bills” (Munoz Ryan, 184). Esperanza still helped her mother even though Esperanza was going through a lot and also trying to care for the home. For this reason, there is a point in the story where Miguel's job was taken by the people in Oklahoma and Esperanza was not keen about how Migel’s job was
Abulita is conveying that even though they moved to America with little money, they have a whole new life ahead of them. Esperanza is determined to help her mother and get her back to health. For this, she must work in the fields for several hours so that she can make money to pay the hospital bills. The story states that “even the poorest man can become rich if he works hard enough” (Pg 75). In the book, it states that “Esperanza thought of her mother in the hospital” all the time (Pg 66).
“Don’t be afraid to start over. ”These are the words that come from immigrants all over the universe. Immigrants have a rigid life. Some of them may have been very rich, but lost everything. Esperanza is just like one of these immigrants in the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munzos Ryan.
This book was Pam Muñoz Ryan 's 13th book ever published out of 40. In the book, Esperanza Rising, it describes how there are many ups and downs during your life but to never be afraid to start over. The author of this book, Pam Muñoz Ryan, tells the main character 's story in the best way possible. Pam Muñoz Ryan wrote this book so it would have an impact on everyone who read it.
However through it all, with the help of family and friends, one can overcome hardships and find a way to make their dream of a better life become a reality. Esperanza Rising is such a valuable book to use in any Central Valley classroom because it allows migrant students to connect and relate
Esperanza was glad they didn't arrest her and the workers. When she got home Miguel lost his job and Esperanza asked why he didn't argue with his boss and then the got into a fight which changed their friendship. A few days later mama got better and she came home. Esperanza was glad that her mother got well.
She says that over and over again and hopes her mother will open the door and give her her blessing, which is very important to her. Her mom doesn't open the door so she leaves without her blessings. Esperanza feels proud of herself and from where she came from. Both of the young women realize what it means to follow your own fate and change restrictions in culture, Anna and Esperanza show that you don't need to work in a factory or get married

Esperanza's shame led her to want to die. Her shame was brought to herself by her actions as a child. By being ashamed for doing the right thing it allows her to have another reason the wrong path. In Esperanza’s community, everyone is ashamed and wants to “escape”, “escape” in the sense that no one would choose to be there. Girls are usually the main ones who have more troubling escaping because they are the minority.
Esperanza says that she will come back, she will come back for “the ones I left behind... the ones who cannot out”. (Cisneros 110). Esperanza is able to go through a change and accept who she is through her community and her family. She is able to use her situation to empower herself, and to be hopeful in her own
As a child, Esperanza wants only escape from mango Street. Her dream of independents and "self-definition" also means leaving her family behind without any responsibilities to her family. Throughout the book, her has also faced some situation where is feels ashamed to be part of the Mango Street community and in some instances refuses to admit she has anything to do with mango street. At the beginning of the book near the earlier chapters, Esperanza feels very insecure about herself in general along with the house that she lives in. As mentioned before, she doesn’t want to discuss her name nor where she lives.

The vignette Born Bad, is important to Esperanza, because it talks about a moment that seemed to affect her a lot and has changed her. This is so, since she talks about how her aunt was nice and caring to them, but is still fragile after she was blind. This is shown when Esperanza kept describing the deteriorating conditions one after another, of her aunt 's apartment and how her aunt can 't do much at this point since she 's blind, and all the girls didn 't do anything to help but watch. This really affects Esperanza, since she jokes and mimics her aunt with her sisters, and now her aunt is dead she sees how she was rude and wasted the time she could have had with her aunt. It can also be inferred that she is physically weak and malnourished. Finally, Esperanza will do anything to get what she wants. This means that she is extremely determined. Esperanza is a very timid little girl. After pestering her mother to give her a note to eat in the canteen, she is seemingly unable to answer the nun who asks what she is doing there, instead meekly holding up the note and scurrying upstairs to Sister Superior.
