Title College Athletes Should Get Paid In 2017 (the most recent year i found ), the NCAA recorded $1.07 billion in revenue. This is a ton of money and athletes do not get a cent of it. These athletes basically have a full time job with college sports between their classes homework and all the team practices games and workouts that their sport requires. They are not like the typical college student who can get a full/part time job to help cover the expenses that come along with being a college student. Yes some students may be on scholarship (not all are) they still have costs and expenses that their scholarship does not cover. This brings in new fans students and tons of money. Like for example the alabama football team look at their fan base and their student section at games. Lets face it the ncaa and these universities are making way more money off of these athletes than they are giving out in scholarships to the players that actually get them. Nfl athletes get a percentage of their jersey sells with their name on it and colleges sale jerseys with players name on them and the college athletes do not see a dime of it. $11 billion is more than the annual revenue of the entire NBA or the NHL. The ncaa gets to pocket tons of money without providing any type of compensation to the players and athletes who help contribute to the money that is brought in.

Paying college athletes could lead to athletes could lead to the athletes staying at the school for a longer period of time. Some athletes rush to the pros and leave the university due to wanting to get paid. If pay was implemented athletes could stay longer and improve their craft as well as help the team. Some athletes rush to the pros and never pan out but if pay was added they could stay a year or 2 more and be more developed and leave with a degree.

At the conclusion of this research their is many statics that show good reasoning that college athletes should have the opportunity to receive payment or some sort of salary for their play. This could lead to more students staying to get their degrees. Good life skills such as managing money and learning wants and needs. On the other hand people believe that it could destroy the competition but look at all pro athletes salaries they best get the best pay and the motivation to them is to have the best play and be top payed
