Because of the many risks, abortion should be limited to help save the unborn lives and help not ruin a woman’s life forever. Abortion should not exactly be made illegal, but it should be allowed under certain circumstances such as rape. Presidential nominee Mitt Romney told CBS News that he is “in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.” (Romney) Rape is one of the limits that abortion should tighten up on and let be legal. Another reason why abortion should be limited is because it makes health risks for the mother. “A mother’s health is an important part of their life and they can getting an abortion risks their mental and physical health.”(Mott) Risking health to get an abortion is not worth it and should not be allowed unless under certain circumstances. There are many other reasons why abortion should be limited but one of the last reasons is the health risk of the baby. “An abortion risks the health of the second baby, and risks that the second baby will have some sort of disease.” (National Catholic Reporter) The process of making abortion limited will help save the lives of the mothers and the babies that are apart of the
Abortion has always been a controversial topic, and with debates from the recent presidential election bringing abortion back into the spotlight, it is clear that people have varying views as well as a great misunderstanding of abortion. Often, the morality of such action is widely discussed, and stones are quickly thrown. I believe that abortion should be legally and safely obtainable in all cases for women who feel it is the best path to take in their pregnancy. While abortion is currently legal in all 50 states, some lawmakers are working to make abortions virtually unobtainable. For example, in Ohio, a heartbeat bill sat on the desk of Governor Kasich.
Abortion has been performed for a long time. It was legal in the United States from the beginning it was created/founded. “At the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions were openly advertised and commonly performed. ”(History of Abortion) But in the mid-to-late 1800s some states began passing laws that made abortion illegal.
Abortion is full of excuses, going against God’s will, and murder. America should reconsider the laws and regulations of the countries soon to be mothers. Because abortion is a deliberate termination of a human life, women should not legally have the option to choose one. Making excuses for reasons a mother can kill her baby is wrong. For example, a mother having a baby she doesn’t want is no excuse to end a life.
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
Abortion is a huge problem, not just in the United States but also all over the world. Abortion is a termination of a pregnancy, usually within the first 28 weeks. Some people believe abortion is murder, while others believe it is not. Abortion is a social problem. In order to be a social problem, the issue must affect a group of people.
But in the third trimester, the state could prohibit abortion, except when a woman’s health was in danger (Hull,
It is a fundamental right for women to choose whether than want an abortion or not. Throughout history we have seen that once these clinics and other safe spaces to get abortions get taken away people resort to unsafe abortions. Illegal abortions are extremely dangers and often end up with death. These back street abortions are dirty, unsafe, and mentally taxing. Another downside to the government making abortions harder to get is that teen pregnancy would skyrocket.
The Court ruled that the states were forbidden from outlawing any aspect of abortion performed during the first trimester of pregnancy, could only enact abortion regulations reasonably related to maternal health in the second and third trimesters, and could enact abortion laws protecting the life of the fetus only in the third trimester (McBride). At the time Roe was decided, most states severely restricted or banned the practice of abortion. My thoughts on the abortion debate fall in between conservative and liberal views. I believe that women have aright to have an abortion under certain circumstances. If the mother needs an abortion to live it should be legal.

Doris Gudino Professor Chounlamountry Political Science 1 27 July 2015 Pro-Choice Anyone? A woman has, undoubtedly, the freedom to procreate, but once a woman chooses to retreat from that freedom, a commotion arises. Abortion is a woman’s choice for many reasons. It’s her body, therefore, no one else can decide for said person.
Thesis Statement: Abortion has been a major topic throughout the years, there has been much debate between pro-choice and pro-life but if people can come together to reach comprises it could help society make positive progress. There are many different views and opinions on abortion in today’s world. Some would say that abortion is wrong and others would say it is right; and some would say it is wrong or right depending on the circumstances. This is when complications surface and people began to look at all aspects of the situation. Abortion has always been a controversial social issue but not as potent as the year 2016 and 2017.
The common belief among many people is that abortion is murder. I disagree. Abortion is not murder. Abortion cannot be considered murder, first, because it is the woman’s body in which the fetus resides. Secondly, abortion is not murder because there are reasons such as rape and possible birth defects that can contribute to the idea of having an abortion.
A second reason why abortion is wrong is because it deprives the fetus from his future. When we decide to kill a fetus then we are taking away from him a future like ours. The argument is as follows : (1) it is impermissible to kill humans, who if lived, would have a future like ours, (2) if abortion is not done, the fetus would have future as we do have, (3) so it is wrong to kill the fetus (4) therefore abortion is impermissible. A similar argument was given by Don Marquis in his article “Why Abortion is Immoral”. He stated that what makes killing wrong is neither the effect on the murder, nor the effect on the victim’s relatives or friends, but the effect is on the victim himself.
Parker Garland Dr. Wion Ethics 12/10/16 Utilitarianism and Abortion Imagine how the world would be if everybody consistently acted in a manner in which what was best for everyone and animals was the main goal of each and every action and decision made. Do you think the world would be a better place? The is what the moral theory of Utilitarianism argues that it would be. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that believes that the best action is the one that maximizes utility.
My stance on abortion is that it should be illegal, unless there are health risks involved, major ones. Other than that, I really do not feel you should get an abortion. There is always adoption. If you do not want the baby, then give it to someone who does.
