Stress has become a major issue for high school students. Many students have seven classes, participate in sports, have after school activities, homework, and need to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Some parents and outside influencers don’t see the benefits of having a longer lunch period for high school students. Students complain about how long school is now but they don 't have enough time outside of school to complete everything they are expected to. While it is understandable that some parents wouldn’t want longer lunches because it could result in safety issues and students having to remain in school 30 minutes longer than the traditional time, longer lunches would give students a chance to complete homework, get help from teachers, and eat a nutritious meal. All of which are lacked during a school day with a 30 minute lunch block.
Some people don’t want students to have longer lunch periods because it will result in them being in school longer. People think this will add more stress. Students won’t get out early, but will still be

It becomes very difficult for students who participate in sports directly after school or those who ride the bus to find time to meet with a teach to get help. If they were to stay after school the students who ride a bus would risk missing their bus which lead to a difficult situation for their parents. Many parents are working eight to five jobs or multiple jobs and can’t take an hour to pick their student up and drive them home. If a student missed the bus because they stayed after school their parent could end up losing their job because they had to leave work. A longer lunch break would allow students to go to teachers classrooms and get help during lunch so they don’t miss the bus after school. Although this could result in students being in school 30 minutes longer it gives them the opportunity to complete some tasks that would cause them stress later that
On these days, the extra hour helps me to trudge through the school day and the long hours of activities I have afterward with some energy left to spare. If one hour keeps me energized throughout the day, then imagine an extra hour on school mornings everyday. For this reason, implementing a later start and end time in high schools across the country will not only benefit students mentally but also
Do you think school lunches are healthy for you or no? Allowing the principal to let us change the meals would lead to less healthy foods then they already are. Its a good thing to have healthier foods since they provide energy for the school day, allowing kids focused more on there works then there stomach growling. . The healthier the food you eat the less your stomach growls to disturb your thinking process or work ethic. Not eating as healthy could lead to energy lost.
Every day students enjoy their lunches at school. They always enjoy eating their delicious meals where they have the option to chose what they want. If their lunch is changed then their options will be limited. Changing the lunch to be healthier will not be something that will be very great for our school. If the school lunch is changed then some of the students that are larger could not get the nutrition they need and hurt the ones that really need those extra calories.
According to Dr. Kyla Wahlstrom in a Public School District in Minneapolis, Minnesota, when school times were changed to start later results of her studies showed that 9th-11th graders attendance increased, grades improved, and decreased depression rates reported by students(Should High School Students Have a Later Start to the School Day?). This illustrates that with schools starting later in the day, students will have more time in the mornings to prepare for classes. This means less tardy students and “fewer dropouts''. The kids will have more time to debrief before school starts again. They will have more time to sleep which will improve their grades(attention).
As I walked into the cafeteria, I caught a whiff of the food being prepared in the cafeteria and thought to myself, “Why can’t we go off-campus to get lunch?” While SLA, the lunch program at Catholic High, provides the school lunches, there could be an alternative solution to this. Unfortunately, students are detained at school during lunch hours and are not able to leave campus during lunch forcing them to be served by SLA or bring their own lunch. If Catholic High School were to introduce an open-campus lunch, students and faculty would benefit greatly. While SLA does provide the lunch at CHS, they do not live up to their standard of “high quality, nutritious, and cost efficient”.
Students Should Have Open Campus Lunch Periods Pinterest states, “Lunch hour is the best hour of the day.” Some students may not enjoy school lunches. Going off campus can open up more choices. Eating a good lunch can help students pay attention in school. I believe that students should have open campus lunches.
Should School Have Open Campus Lunches Seventy percent of all high schools in America have closed campus lunches. At U.S. Grant High School they are one of the schools that do not allow students to leave campus for lunches. When students do leave the campus, they get an one hundred dollar truancy fine the first time. The next time is five hundred dollars.
School could get out earlier if there wasn 't an extra period saved for lunch. Schools could even get an extra period to put in the day for an extra class or just more time to add onto the classes that are already going on in school. Kids would also be healthier if they did not eat the lunch from school because you never know how much fat, grease, and unhealthy ingredients are in school lunches. Even though school lunches make a lot of students not feel good, it could be a good idea to have lunch so they get energy and are not hungry throughout the day.
One negative affect is that students may decide to not go to school as much due to the lack of appetizing lunches being served, which may lead to all sorts of negative affects. Another negative effect is test scores and grades may drop because the student is not as focused because they have not had anything to eat and are much more worried about eating than paying attention in class. The mood of the school might also be more negative. If students are happy and feel they are treated fairly they will show more school spirit and all around be a much happier learning environment.
Changing school start times has proved to be beneficial towards students learning. The National Sleep Foundation, says, “Young people who do not get enough sleep night after night carry a significant risk for drowsy driving” and then continues to say students achieve “lower overall performance in everything from academics to athletics.” If school started later and we got home around the same time, then we could get an extra hour of sleep. That extra hour of sleep could be very beneficial for students. That is just one way, pushing back school start times could be advantageous.
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
Open campus at lunch time is a huge advantage for high school students, and is a great punishment as well. The student's responsibility to come back to school on time will have consequences if students don't follow it. This will help them realize that the word is run by rules and if people don't follow them, there will always have consequences. Students will be gaining responsibility for collage and the real world after that. To succeed in life people need independence, maturity, and responsibility.
If schools were too just delay school by 30 minutes it would improve the student's health and grades.
Studies show that overweight students tend to have more problems with learning and paying attention (Miura). Many parents also fear that children would have the chance to skip school of get into drugs and alcohol while they are loose for their lunch break. People of the communities have also expressed their fears of increased traffic and increased risk of traffic collisions (?9 Primary Pros and Cons of Open Campus Lunch?). Not only can open lunches cause health problems, but they can lead to other dangers such as a car crash or
Short breaks for light, outdoor exercises help people be more productive during the day instead of those people who don ' t. Consequently, us children have to face with seven hours of school with no breaks. In the afternoon, we have no motivation to keep concentrating on our school work. This is why I want the principal to know we should be having small breaks during the school day to help us concentrate during the school day. Additionally, This will help us from becoming unfocused, breaks help us retain more information, and having shorter breaks help you stay on schedule.
